It's some kind of work where you sit in one room all day talking to other people on telephones, writing forms, and... sometimes there are computers? He was drunk at the time. Before I could ask him more about it he launched into something about knowing who invented them, a thing called an ansaphone, and then gave me a lecture on the social habits of whales... Which are apparently really, really big fish.

That's pretty much exactly what I said, but apparently there are whole buildings the size of the castle dedicated to people who do that for at least eight hours a day. I can't even imagine...

Honestly, I don't know what they did to language before we were born, but it sounds like they ripped it apart.
