I quite enjoyed visiting Tokyo. I cannot say that I traveled so far during my lifetime. I do regret not making the journey.

[Albus sounds as calm as always. It will take more than a world shift to worry him.]

Aside from the peculiarities associated with entering another world, I have been wondering if the castle possesses other oddities? Magical creatures can be a great delight to those who know how to handle them. I myself once befriended a Phoenix. I do not think I could ever replace him, but he would not deny me potential companionship.

[There is sadness in his voice when he speaks of Fawkes. Regardless of being given a chance to say farewell to the bird, Albus misses him - and he expects he always will.]

And I was loyal to him. He was far more a friend than a familiar.

He might be brought here. Crookshanks arrived here a few years ago.

I would welcome him warmly. I admit I would rather imagine him living an open, free life and perhaps taking a mate. He has had to undertake many difficult tasks at my side.

Phoenixes are rare enough as it stands - and considering it was thanks to Fawkes that both Harry's and Tom's wand cores came to be, I would say the Magical World would benefit from him reproducing.

We'll have to speak with Hagrid about that. I'm sure he'll know how to breed phoenixes.

I did speak with him on the matter once. He told me that it would be quite embarrassing for me - considering my bond with Fawkes - if I were to endeavor in finding him a suitable mate. Regardless, I spoke to Fawkes and he told me he was content to stay within my office.

Really? Well, it really was up too Fawkes in the end, I suppose.

He's doing all right. He's always been very independant.

Then this castle must be entertaining to him.

Have you encountered any other Magical creatures, Miss Granger?

I've seen many creatures in my two years, but not all of them are magical in the way we're familiar. I'd like to introduce you to my Pokemon, though. He's quite clever.

Pokemon? What sort of creatures are they?

[courageous_wit]

They're sort of like monsters bred for fighting. Mine looks like an otter, which is the same animal as my Patronus.

[aphoenixsong]

Fighting? That doesn't seem humane. [At all.] I did not know that. Quite fitting, Miss Granger.

I didn't like the idea, either, but some of the Pokemon actually seem to like it. It's how they're able to grow.

That does seem rather contrary. I do not think I could watch them fight without interfering.

Luckily my Oshawott evolved into a Dewott without us going into many battles. He only stepped in to defend me against wild Pokemon.

Male. His name is Aemon.

You should consider yourself very lucky.

[ aemon is swift and untiring and arya is happy to have him, good as he is. he was the only one not to panic at the presence of a direwolf, and even now tolerates the massive predators better than any horse. ]

I take care of him. He's mine. I ride him every day.

You should consider yourself very lucky. Unicorns are proud creatures and I have never heard of one being able to ride a unicorn before.

Well, I don't know about anything like a phoenix, but there's a ton of different kinds of Pokemon.

So I have heard, though I dislike the idea of them battling one another.

There are non-magic creatures, too. I have a sheepdog that I inherited from a friend who left here.

Any animal has the potential of becoming an excellent companion. I am sure your sheepdog offers you comfort and affection.

I never had a pet before I came here, so he's become my buddy.

There's plenty of interesting things in the stables.

I shall have to investigate them more thoroughly.

Just be careful. Some things in there are right vicious buggers.

I have seen a unicorn in the stables, it's mane and tail made of fire. Perhaps the closest to a phoenix that I know of.

A rare creature to be sure, but Phoenixes are far more than fire.

I've never seen a Phoenix either here or back home but I know there are a few unusual creatures wandering around in this world.

I should like to encounter one of them someday. [He could quickly become attached to any number of strange creatures.]

Most of them are out in the Dead Zone, though I know a few people have brought some back to study.
