Open Post: Gryffindor and Ravenclaw

Gryffindor
[your common room is hidden behind the portrait of the Fat Lady. She will only open for you if you give the password. Once inside, you will get to hang out with lots of comfortable seats and a cheerful fire. The colors are in gold and red, all very warm and welcoming.

If any Gryffindors have issues, your Head of House will be around to help you!]

Ravenclaw
[your common room is up in a tower. An eagle doorknocker will only let you inside if you answer a riddle. The colors here are a cool blue. It can be a bit chilly because of being so high]

Because it's hard to talk about, James. I don't like having to tell people just how bad things are in their future. Especiall yours.

[she wrings her hands, feeling uncomfortable] I didn't know what to do. And now Harry's here, and I have the chance to tell him about his future, but I don't know if I should. He just finished his first year. He fought Voldemort and won, and Gryffindor won the House Cup. It... it's a happy time for him.

[ Wait... what is she saying... Bad things? What's bad about having a son?

Hold on even more importantly! ]

He fought him and won?

Many times. He's known as "The Boy Who Lived" because he survived the Killing Curse when he was just a baby.

[ She's managed to render James silent here. He looks outright shocked by this information. ]

Well now... there were some details Professor Dumbledore failed to mention.

I'm sure there's a lot Dumbledore didn't mention, James.

That's always been his way, hasn't it?

Quite. But... I'll tell you anything you want to know. Just ask.

[ Hesitating for a moment... ]

What's he like?

[ Harry, that is. ]

Though... I already promised him I'd disregard anything negative you said about him, so you might want to touch on the good parts first.

Harry? He's very brave, James. We became friends because he rescued me from a mountian troll. He's faced more than anyone could imagine, and he keeps pushing forward; he's very determined that way.

And he has such a good heart. He cares about the house-elves and even set one free from a cruel master. He would be friends with people even if others saw them as strange or unpopular. He never cared about being famous and often tried to avoid the attention it got him.

Of course, he can be very frustrating sometimes. He thinks he has to face all these terrible things alone, that he's protecting people when he does that. But Ron and I followed him anyway. Most of this happens years later. At age eleven he's still innocent and all he knows is that the wizard world has rescued him from the Dursleys.

[ A mountain troll? Now that is impressive. James has to admit he's almost a little jealous he hasn't had a chance to tangle with something like that himself.

The look of pride on James' face is obvious. And it keeps growing until she gets to the part about the Dursleys. As young as he is he's never had a reason to hear that name before. He puts it aside for now though. ]

Honestly, you can't drop that bit about the mountain troll and not go into more detail than that.

Someone released a troll in the castle on Halloween. I was in the bathroom and the thing attacked me. Harry and Ron came in. Harry distracted it while Ron knocked it out with its own club using a simple levitating spell.

... That would be Ron Weasley, by the way, in case you've ever met the Weasleys.

I've certainly heard the name.

[ Who hasn't heard of a Weasley before? There's something about them that just sort of stands out.

He chuckles now, but it's a weird mix between amused and mildly confused. ]

How in the world did someone get a troll into Hogwarts of all places?

Our Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher let it in... Long story.

Well... either way, hope he got sacked for that one.

Erm... Yes, you could say that.

[ He's wondering if it was a bit more than that. ]

Good. The professors are bad enough without them letting trolls into the castle.

Oh, they're not all bad. Professor Flitwick was always very good, and we had the best Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher in my third year.

Really. I can't imagine what sort of stuffy old bloke they got after that disaster with the letting trolls in all over the place.

It was Remus, actually, and he was wonderful. I really learned a lot from him.

[ James looks pretty surprised for a second before breaking out into a huge grin. ]

Remus becomes a professor?

He does. He taught Harry the Patronus charm, and showed us a variety of Dark creatures. Our final test was an obstacle course where we had to defeat all the creatures we learned about.

[ A laugh. ]

Brilliant! I should have guessed he'd make a great professor.

I suppose he had practice, helping you and Sirius along in classes. [she's just teasing. Probably]

[ He puts a hand to his chest and lets out a fake gasp of indignation. ]

Is that what he's been telling you? After all the hours Padfoot and I spent tutoring him?
