And then a Dragon Showed Up
[the grounds of Hogwarts seem fairly quiet today. Maybe everyone decided to spend the night at Hogsmeade, or they're catching up on homework, or even stuck in detention.
Until a roar is heard. A winged creature appears over the horizon, getting closer to the school. Yep, that's definitely a dragon. A big flame-spouting dragon. It may decide to fly over the forest looking for food, or dive into the lake for fish. When it gets tired it will roost on the towers, terrifying the poor Ravenclaws and Gryffindors.
The dragon doesn't seem interested in the students. If you actually bother to fight it you'll find that its hide is tough. It would take quite a few students performing a Stun spell to bring it down. Maybe you read something about its eyes being vulnerable? Hey, if you actually want to fight the thing then good luck to you! The fact that there isn't a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is really starting to sink in right about now]
[there will be no sections here so please indicate in your subject line where you are. I won't be NPCing the dragon so have fun!]

Ravenclaw Tower
It's still the weekend, and Jane had already gotten her work done on Friday so she could enjoy it to the fullest, so she had decided to relax in her common room. That's when she heard the roar.
She watched from the window as the dragon swooped about the grounds, and she nearly screams when it comes to roost - no, can't draw attention to yourself, don't draw attention to yourself! Quick as a flash, she darts to the dormitories and begins to pound on the doors.]
Wake up! Wake up, there's a problem out here!!

Is-- that a dragon?

[Jane comes back down into the common room, wand in hand.] We've got to get it away from the castle somehow! But it'd take an awful lot of us to do that!

Re: Ravenclaw Tower
[Crap. Right. Magical school. Wand? Wand.]
[But first ... threat assessment. He yelled back into the hallway.] Is it bigger than a bread box?

But that doesn't last long. That brief moment of hesitation is more than made up for by the frantic movement that follow it. Wand in hand, she's making her way through the Ravenclaw tower, waking up any sleeping students and trying to persuade the rest to leave.]
Out! Everyone out! [If this place is attacked, they're pretty much cornered.]

Near the forest
He's blind.
So something large and foraging about while he's checking on the creatures for the next class only gets a mild reaction. ]
Hello.
[ Yeah. he... doesn't really care. ]
no subject
Uh ...
[damn, he'd never met the other man before class the other day. what was his name again?]
Professor?
... Professor!

[ And so his head turns toward that voice. What was the boy's name?
Walker would probably remember it far quicker than he did, Duke was fairly certain that the assistant had gotten the students to come out here and help him.
.... Something to do with wind. ]
Yes?
[ Why is he shouting. ]

Oh, great. The dinosaurs are back, and they fly.
Castle Entrance
That is not a dinosaur Mr Hawthorne...that is a dragon.
[He takes a sip of his coffee before speaking again.]
And I've seen bigger...

The Lake
Alli leaped back and books tumbled from her lap as the dragon folded it's wings and plunged into the cold deep blue waters of the lake. Water displaced and flooded up the shore in rippling eddies, white froth stirred form where the creature broke the surface. This guy was not winning a 10 for that entry from any judge.
Her wand was in her hand when the giant head slowly bobbed up and two big gold eyes popped up over the surface. It looked like an immense crocodile floating there like that, with the majority of it's body submerged until it flipped it's head back to swallow down a mouthful of fish.
"Merlin's beard! You're a real, live, wild dragon!" Her excitement and curiosity overwhelmed her good sense...this was a sadly common thing, and she moved for the shore. Her magic was no where near good enough to take on something like this, but it seemed far more interested in gulping down fish..she hoped they were fish and not the merepeople anyway, then at her studying it.
Maybe she could get close enough to get a scale or something, oh man that would ace her Care of Magical Creatures class for sure! So where were those row boats? Ohh right, she found one and tested it before stepping in and reaching back to untie the mooring line.

"Hey!" Percy shouted after her. "Hey, what are you doing? You're not seriously going on the lake, are you?"

The Grounds
Raising his wand, he set about getting the creature's attention. If it was going to fight anyone, it should be him. He had the knowledge, the power and the courage to face any sort of dragon, though he had no delusions about this being an easy task.
As the dragon answered his call, he created a dome around himself and it. No one would be able to interfere.
"You are far from home." he spoke calmly, levelly, "This is a Castle of learning and Magic. You will not find a safe place to roost."
Actually, the dragon could roost in the Castle, but Albus wasn't going to let him.
