[ not yet dawn and arya is already awake. bored of waiting for robb to wake, she pokes his cheek. ]

Robb. Robb. Can I wake up now? Robb, can I wake up? Ro-obb!


accidental dictation; action for the ballroom;
[ though she managed to escape robb's supervision, arya is not alone. a gray wolf pup with golden eyes darts constantly between her legs. robb told her the pup's name is nymeria and arya loves her already. grey wind follows both. he assigned himself as their guard, and has been growling in warning at anyone who might come close. ]

Stop it. You're being silly.

[ arya chastises him after one time too many. she has been trying to make winterfell out of pillows and blankets. all she needs to do is ask the air and she gets as many pillows as she may want. she has already got the double walls done, and is trying to figure out how to make the great hall stay up. but grey wind continues interrupting.

she puts her hands on her hips and narrows her eyes at the offending beast. he huffs and bumps her. not expecting it, she falls. nymeria yelps, barely getting out of the way. arya sits stunned on the floor before rounding on grey wind. ]

Grey Wind, you stupid! I almost fell on Nymeria! No, don't kiss me now. I don't want— Don't— [ the rest is lost in a fit of giggles. ]

[ She cares little for curtsies, now crouching on her knees so the girl would not need to crane her neck. ]

That only gives us a chance to better know each other.

[infanta]

[ grey eyes, the only of catelyn's children to not have inherited their mother's tully blue, slide to the side. arya was used to speaking to the stableboys and the washerwomen. she likes spending time with them, the smiths, the carpenters, the cooks. they would tell her stories and sometimes give her treats. the only lady she knows well is her lady mother, and lucrezia is very different from her. arya chews on her lip. ]

What do you want to know?

[lucre]

[ She bites her lip and tips her head to the side in an attempt to seem less intimidating. ]

Only the things you would tell me. Perhaps the name of your pup.

[infanta]

Nymeria. [ she hikes nymeria higher on her shoulder. ] Are you a friend of my brother?

[lucre]

I should hope so.

[ She turns to give Grey Wind some more attention, stroking his neck. ]

Else he might keep me away from this majestic one.

[infanta]

He's ours.

[ js. ]

[lucre]

So you would give me permission to meet Grey Wind, in case your brother dislikes me?

[infanta]

[ arya looks at her directly. ]

No.

[lucre]

But if your brother likes me too?

[infanta]

Grey Wind is Robb's. He will do as Robb tells him.

[lucre]

And so to play with Nymeria, I must earn your favor?

[infanta]

Will you be nice? If you make her cry, I'll hit you.

[lucre]

What must I do to be nice to her?

[infanta]

Don't pull on anything. Hold her carefully. No trying to scare her either!

[lucre]

Those are the things she dislikes, but what of those that please her?

[infanta]

Do you know how to play?

[lucre]

Some games, most of them for two-legged friends however.

[infanta]

You will learn. I can teach you. Sit there. Hold your arms out.

[lucre]

[ She laughs at how bossy this little kid is! But then does precisely as she's told. ]

[infanta]

[ arya sets nymeria in her arms, showing her the proper way to hold the excitable creature. nymeria wriggles and whines; arya passes her hand over the wolf's head and lets nymeria lick her palm. ]

[lucre]

[ Lucrezia laughs when the pup tries to scale up her dress and clamber out of her embrace, but she keeps her arms loose and leans in to bump her nose against Nymeria's head. ]

Soft as a baby's breath.

[infanta]

Do you have a baby?

[lucre]

[ Funny she should ask. Still, Lucrezia keeps up her smile. ]

I do. Not even one year of age.

[infanta]

Boy or girl?

[lucre]

A boy. His name is Giovanni.
