[Oh man. Oh man this was not good. Not good at all. Last night had been one of those rare nights where Ellie actually got a good night of sleep, a mercifully dreamless sleep where she wasn't haunted by the Infected or the hunters or the faces of all the people she had known and lost.
So of fucking course something had to happen the next fucking day. The morning had started so nicely, and then suddenly everything kind of went weird and she woke up in... wherever the fuck this was. Not cool. What's even less cool is that she woke up alone. Outside of That Incident at the resort in winter, she can't remember the last time she woke up alone. Even in the present, Joel always hung around their tiny little cabin at least until she was awake before heading off. So... being alone in a strange place with no memory of how she got here? That sent a clear jolt of panic lancing through her.
Not even stopping to really absorb her surroundings, Ellie takes off running with no real direction.]
Joel? [She's trying not to sound panicked, but she's not doing a very good job of it.] Joel, where are you, you asshole?!

I've been dragged to this weird-ass castle all by myself and there's no way out! That's what's wrong.

That's the way the castle works. Seven months ago, I had the same thing happen to me. I know you have no reason to trust me, but I promise you that I don't mean you any harm. I can help explain what this place is all about and what being here means.

[... Damn. Her eyebrows raise at the mention of how long he's been living here.] Seven months? Shit... how have you not gone insane after that long?

Sorry, I'm rambling.
[Offers her an apologetic smile.]
I'm Alvin Draper, by the way. [Holds out his hand.] Seven months isn't that long, compared to some of the other people her. My girlfriend's almost been here for four years. We're from the same world. Having her around and one of my best friends helps keep my sanity in check. Maybe someone from your world will pop up.

[She takes his hand and shakes it, and her smile fades just a bit at what he says.] ... Yeah, I hope so.
[Because it's just as much for his own good as it is hers. He's probably burned down the entire dam by now trying to find her, probably just took off into the woods and kept going and going until he found other people, and fucked them up too when they couldn't give him information, and then... shit. She needs to stop thinking about this.]
Damn, how did you deal with her being stuck here for years before you got dragged here too?
no subject
[Before that made him happy, now there's a part of him that wants to keep the memories he's made here.]
Steph, on the other hand, had to deal with three years of people from our world and worlds like it, coming in and out of this place with no memories of their previous trips to Paradisa. Although there are some people who return here and remember everything that happened upon arrival.

Is all this magic-y sci-fi talk really that common here? 'Cause if that's the case, I'm gunna have to stock up on pain meds to stop myself from getting a headache every time someone opens their mouth.

[Nods his head, gesturing to the castle walls.]
Magic is all over the place here. For example, if you "wish" for some Tylenol, it will appear in your hands. I try to not use the magic here all that often.
