Ne, ne! Is anyone hungry?

[There is the distinct sound of water boiling and pot lids being set down in the background - and if you listen carefully, it sounds like there's quite a lot of it going on. What could this little guy be up to?]

Ve, I thought all the ghost people were really scary at first, but then I watched them for a while, and they're not actually scary at all! They're nice because they do lots of cleaning for us and I don't have to! That's the very best thing, don't you think? [He's just so happy to get out of servitude.] So I asked them as nice as I could if they could help me make a big lunch! Though it kinda got too big...so, um, if you like pasta, you should come to the kitchen and eat some with me! Especially if you're a friend! But I promise not to turn anyone away if they are hungry!

[If you choose to accept this impromptu invitation, you will find the kitchen still very much abuzz with activity. The ghosts have taken the kid's request to heart, and have just finished laying out a veritable pasta buffet with noodles and sauces of any combination you can think of, if it's Italian, on a long table that hadn't been there before. Your little host isn't eating just yet - he's struggling to set every place as neatly as he can, which really isn't neat, and his apron and outfit are covered in sauce stains.

Well I wasn't allowed to have any at home...of course I'd want to eat it lots here. I guess maybe that's why...?

You weren't allowed pasta at home?

[pastina]

Yeah. I didn't even live in my own house! I had to live in someone else's and do all the chores.

[indirectcause]

You were allowed to leave right?

[pastina]

No, not at all...

[There's a definite droop to his expression.] Ve, I really miss my home...

[indirectcause]

...So you were pretty much kept captive and you miss that?

[pastina]

Oh! No, no, I miss all the stuff before that!

[indirectcause]

Well, that makes a heck of a lot more sense.

[pastina]

Well...there's some things I sort of miss about being a servant. It wasn't fun, but it wasn't all bad.

[indirectcause]

And your parents were okay with you being a servant?

[pastina]

Oh, I don't have any parents.

[indirectcause]

Oh, I'm sorry, you're an orphan?

[pastina]

I guess so. But none of my friends have parents either. Some of them are all grown up already, so they don't need parents.

[indirectcause]

...Wow, like none at all? What happened to them all?

[pastina]

They died. Just like my Grandpa. [He might look just a tad sad at that, but he shrugs. It's just what happens to people like him.]

[indirectcause]

[Oh god what D:]

A-all of them?

[pastina]

Well that's what happens when empires fall, right? They die and then there are new ones instead.

[indirectcause]

[Ben's silent for a moment, confused]

...Empires? Were they rich or something?

Some of them. Others were just really strong for a while!

[indirectcause]

...Yeah I don't think I get it.

[pastina]

[Ah man, he's really not good at explaining things. He's only a little kid, after all. Italy frowns and scratches his head.]

Ve...I don't know how else to say it, though...

Well, it's okay, I'm sure it's like...a miscommunication, it happens.

[He's gonna poke at his pasta now, all adorable and pouty-like.]
