[The castle has really got to stop with this turning York into a toy business. It's starting to get annoying.]

What the hell is everyone talking about? Did something happen? I've been, uh, out of it for a couple weeks. Anyone mind giving me a hand here?

He said the Collectors found their settlement. Like Terre Haute. [She would have rather set off already, but the other residents want their theatrics.]

I double-checked. They're green. [She doesn't respond to him mentioning that he'll be going too as she's not exactly sure how to right now.]

[After a bit, he comes back having spoken with Tsuna a little.]

...Look, it looks like everyone's going to take a while getting their shit together, and I know the radio voice said the aliens were about five days out, but...I'd really feel more comfortable leaving now. It should only take us a few hours with one of the steam racers.

[She had figured that would be the end of the conversation but when he comes back, she's honestly a little surprised. Maybe it's the Castle taking him away from her time and time again over the past month that's made her so sure that when she needs him as an anchor in her life, it'll just snatch him away once more.]

I'll drive. [But she doesn't mention anything about getting the team ready or rallying the SPARTANs.]

Is anyone else going? The vehicles can hold about half a dozen, but I've only heard from South, who definitely isn't.

[He doesn't object to her driving at all, though, especially since he'd rather keep an eye on her. The last few times he'd seen her in battle, she'd been a little...suicidal isn't the right word, but a lot more careless than she should have been, definitely.]

[Well, if he'd thought she was extra careless in battle before, he's in for a horrible surprise. One of the endings she's imagined for this expedition is finally getting what she wants. Something glorious and heroic rather than the slow withering of the past couple months since her anger had melted away into apathy.

Hearing that South definitely isn't volunteering doesn't even earn a reaction from Carolina. She knows she's logically disappointed but trying to feel that is impossible right now.

It only serves to remind her of the fact that their team had been decimated and it was her fault.] No. No one else is going.

[And she doesn't sound all that bothered by it either.]

[Yeah see, that's exactly what he's worried about and why he doesn't want her to go alone. He is a little surprised to hear the others aren't going...but then again, he somehow doubts Carolina's talked to each of them personally.]

Been practicing with any of the steam vehicles? They're all drivable, but if there's any in particular you have any experience with we can take that.

No. [She hadn't asked either of the SPARTANs for permission to use their vehicle, so she'd been only using the NOBLEs' rides recently.

But she's not sure if that's a question as to her capability of her driving or not.]

You want to pick one and get some practice in? We can leave in the morning. The sleighs are open for anyone's use.

[Not that he doesn't trust her at the wheel, but--might as well be a skilled driver, right?]

We'll take a sleigh then. [And there's the sound of rustling as she gets ready to head out before she pauses.] I'm glad you're back.

[He pauses. That's--yeah, he's glad to hear that.]

Good to be back. I'll start packing, and I'll see you tomorrow.

[There's another pause.]

Unless you want to grab dinner later tonight.

I haven't eaten yet. [Today, really, not just dinner but it would be good to see him not inanimate.]

[That's not a no, and York sounds pleased to hear it.]

Pizza's fine, York. [ Which should really sound more enthusiastic, but she doesn't have the energy for it.]
