science objectives

Hi, everyone. So. Science at it's best is used to improve people's lives, making them easier and safer, while keeping us in balance with nature. Um. That was an unintentionally pretentious way of saying I want to use science to help people here.

I may not be able to get us home, but that doesn't mean life here can't be made better. So. Any suggestions? Is there anything you can think of that would make life here easier or better? Maybe something to help with the expeditions?

I know that in the past, a significant number of citizens have received crystals that allow them to power up their electronic devices in the Deadzone. If we could find a way to duplicate their properties, that would be really helpful.

Um, okay. ... What do you have in mind? I mean, fun is pretty subjective. For me, science and research are fun, in a way.

Um. Are you interested in communication or internet? Communication wouldn't be difficult, but internet...well I could set up relays, but there wouldn't be any content, really.

Computers? Um. Setting up an internet network, I might be able to do. I can write programs, but the content would be pretty boring. I'd need help with that part.

I'd choose wisely regarding who takes control of that part...the last thing an internet needs is more blogs and cat pictures.

But I have acquired some skills of my own over the years should you require any assistance with the programs.

Yeah, that's a good idea. The journals are good, but cell phones would be more practical, at times.

I agree. I think studying the crystals will be my primary project. Is there anything you can tell me that might give me a head start? I've never been to the Dead Zone.

Just that the crystals are part of a larger 'mother crystal' and that it's apparently native to this world.
They also aren't very powerful, at least not the ones we have access to. About as much power as a... double A?
