23 | Which Involves Terrible Penmenship | Written
[There's some horrible chicken-scratch in the journal. It might be easier to read if you squint. Or turn it sideways. Or maybe upside down.]
Well, someone's having a bit of fun at our expense [expanse?]. It could be the castle, or it might be someone else mucking [mocking? mimicking?] about with things they shouldn't. Either way, I'll be up in the library looking for a way to fix it before the townspeople [tower? towtruck? torrential?] riot. You can thank me later.

[Wait maybe that's his loss, was that rude to say...]
Perhaps you should practise more...

You are in the library?

Also written terribly but for other reasons.
[ The journal read "expanse", "mocking" and "towtruck" to him. And unless Howl was drinking, that doesn't make terribly much sense.
On the other hand, most of his letters are crowding each other and finding where the words end is either a huge gap, or another case of crowding. ]
will join at library.

Likely.
I'll keep an eye out.

[ Its a little more lightly written than normal pressure. There's a text whisper. ]

[Right. He hadn't actually bothered to write in the journal before, had he? Well, that explained a few things...]

[There are some marks on the page, like someone is irritatedly tapping their pen]
T O W N S P E O P L E

[There's a short pause in her writing, and a small inkblot forms at the end of her t, as she gets her thoughts together. She eventually scratches the word out and starts again]
But this can't be the worst thing that's happened here, right? Do you really think the townspeople are going to freak out?
[It could just be hyperbole, but hey, that sort of thing isn't always easy to pick up on via text]
no subject
That doesn't seem to have happened.
