[If you happen to be in the lobby today you might spot a woman in turn-of-the-century gown sitting calmly on one of the couches and looking about herself with bright curiosity.

After a few moments she calmly takes out the journal and writes into it in a graceful, practiced script. As much as she disliked the situation, there was no point in being rude about it. All the same, she had no intention of allowing politeness to limit her grasp on the situation.]

I am not accustomed to having my plans inconvenienced. It had been my intention to make my return to Luxor as soon as possible.  However, as I have seen in the other entries in this journal, it seems that this may be more than a slight delay. I wish to speak to whoever considers themselves in charge of this dismal situation immediately. Likewise, I would appreciate any knowledge that the inhabitants of this place have to offer.

To those I have not met I must make my introductions. My name is Amelia Peabody Emerson. I am an Egyptologist and wife to the greatest Egyptologist of this or any other age.

I find that difficult to believe. Men do so like to consider themselves in charge, even when it is not true.

You must have met a better breed of males. In my experience the majority display an absolute aversion to any situation in which they cannot claim themselves to be the masters.

That for some reason we have been abducted to this location. And that returning home may be a very difficult endeavor indeed. A most unfortunate state of affairs.

Indeed. However, most do eventually return home and it seems no time passes for them while gone, so it is not necessary to be concerned about any pressing business you may have there.

Through considerable demonstrations over the years I have learned to never expect much organization or practicality where men are involved. But I have never heard of a situation in which there has been no attempt to organize at all.

I must admit to a certain talent for stumbling across corpses. Fresh ones. It always upsets my dear Emerson so. Mysteries are terrible distractions to the excavation seasons.
