2. Needle In A Haystack \ Action - Forward-dated to Nov. 16th

The Doctor, the older version, has been mostly keeping to himself for the past few weeks. Certainly he’s been around and often seen wandering the castle, the courtyard, forest, the nearby town, and most areas in-between. To those who may have noticed him it may appear that he’s looking for something, it’s hard to say exactly what though.

Today the Doctor can be seen doing what he’s been doing every other day. Wandering around and looking for something he can’t seem to find. It’s almost like an elaborate game of hide and seek, where he is always the seeker and clearly not doing the best of jobs in the finding.



[OOC: Feel free to have your character run into the Doctor pretty much anywhere in the castle, courtyard, forest, or town that your character would also happen to be.]

[Harry was minding his own business, when he nearly slammed into a tall man, wearing a brown trench coat. What was his rush?]

Sorry. I didn't mean to run into you. Are you alright?

Oh pardon me. My apologies. Wasn't quite watching where I was going there now was I? But then I suppose that's true for the both of us or the other would have altered our course. Yes, yes, I'm quite fine, thank you. And yourself? Are you injured?

No, I'm not injured. What about you? [Harry stared at the tall man in the long coat. Was he always running around not looking where he was going?]

I'm Harry Potter. Nice to meet you. [He held out a hand.]

I'm quite alright, really, but thank you. [As Harry stared, the Doctor tilted his head and raised a curious eyebrow.]

[The Doctor looked at the hand for a second before providing his own for a quick handshake. Pleasure to meet you, Harry Potter. I'm the Doc... er, John Smith, but most people just call me Doctor.

[ooc: Hey! I don't know if you're aware, but I thought I'd mention given that your post sets your character in the castle: We have been running a Florence plot this past week, meaning the characters are currently in Renaissance Florence, not the usual castle setting. You may want to keep on top of plots in the OOC Comm, as participating in castle-wide events is a good opportunity to build CR.]

[Apologies. I haven't had much time to play recently and I was so thrilled that I had a chance to get some posts in I didn't think to look in the OOC comm first. I'll adjust the dates on the post so it doesn't conflict.]

[Meg is out shopping in town, bag in hand containing a present for Cas when she notices him walking by, looking around absentmindedly as though he's searching for something. Normally she wouldn't care, but something about him piques her interest. He's... different.]

Hey. Lose something?

Oh, hello! Yes. Well, no. We-ll... [The Doctor looks up in the air and bobs his head back and forth.] Not really lost per say, more like hopeful expectations that it will be somewhere else than where I expect it actually is.

[Ooookay. Remind her again why she asked? She raises her eyebrows questioningly.]

And where do you expect it to be?

Not here sadly. [Shrugs] I don't think it came to this place with me. Still, I keep hoping...

[A sudden change in mood and he's closer to her in a bounce with a smile in his hand out in greeting.]

Where are my manners?! I'm th- John Smith, Doctor John Smith. Most people just call me Doctor though.

[Meg shrugs and smiles back, squinting a little at his stutter. She can certainly recognize when someone is using a fake name, but she's not really one to pry, either.]

Nice to meet you, Doctor. I'm Meg.

[She shakes his hand, smiling back warmly. It strikes her that he's definitely something other than human, but that's pretty par for the course in Paradisa. Still... interesting. The plot thickens.]

[Smiling while shaking her hand, the Doctor notices something is different about Meg as well. Human but not human at the same time. Interesting.]

It's a pleasure, Meg. Out doing some shopping I see... How is the shopping here? Did you find what you were looking for?

[She was, once, and the body certainly is. But Meg herself? Not so much.]

Likewise. Just picking up a gift for a... friend. [She smiles a bit wider.] I wasn't really looking for anything in particular, just wanted to get him a little something, ya know? Town's not too bad, though. Kind of... quaint.

[The Doctor's grin grows as his hands move to his pockets and he rocks left to right on his feet.]

More than a friend it sounds. That's wonderful, brilliant that is!

[Nodding in understanding and in encouragement.] Those little something gifts are the best kind don't you think?

[Meg flushes a little and sighs.]

You're either really good at reading people or I've gone completely soft. [She chuckles] That obvious, huh?

[She nods] Yeah, I you may be right about that. Guess we never really got the chance to do things like this back home. It's kind of nice to be able to as long as we're stuck here.

[im_the_doctor]

Nah, I'm that good at reading people. [He says with a smug sniff but he can't stop the smile that quickly follows. He shrugs belaying the meaning to his action and words, then leans in as if he's sharing a secret.] Your smile gives you away.

A bit of silver lining to an otherwise dark cloud? How very optimistic of you. It's refreshing to find.
