 [So the castle was filled with evil brainwashing mistletoe. So it was the start of his least favorite time of year.

So what?

Danny was determined to outlast the season.  It wasn't going to get him.  Not this time.  There would be no kissing.  No peptalks about the importance of the christmas spirit and not being a grinch.  And absolutely no rhyming.

How did he intend to do this?  The half-ghost had barricaded himself in an abandoned corner of the lobby.  He'd overturned furniture and stocked his improvised fort with pillows, junk food and weapons.

And he was going to stay right here and sulk while he shot down anything vaguely christmas-like headed in his direction.

It was an awesome plan, okay? And clearly the thing to do was warn anyone who cared. He pulls out his journal as he keeps a wary eye out for possessed christmas decorations.]

Christmas sucks.  It really, really sucks.  And this year I'm not having anything to do with it. So don't tell me about all that Christmas spirit junk.  

I don't care.

Hello?

[Pyrrha's been seeing the cryptic messages in the journal about Christmas and Kissing, and while she's still getting used to the castle, the people, and apparently the holidays, she has to admit she's still dubious about this one.]

[Finding the fort in the lobby, however, is worth a little more investigation. She's peering in through whatever she guesses the entrance to be.]

[Danny looks over the top of it skeptically.]

You're not here to talk to me about christmas spirit, are you?

[Pyrrha shakes her head, her answer genuine.]

I don't even know what that is.

Oh, just the absolute worst time of the year!

[speak_and_listen]

What makes it so bad?

[She hovers on the edge, ready to leave if he asks her, but she can't help but admit to herself she's curious. About the holiday, as well as about this young man.]

Because everyone goes completely crazy. And the worst part of it is that if you don't like it everyone's all jumping over themselves to try and teach you the christmas spirit.

[Of course that wasn't Danny real reason at all.]

Well. I can promise I won't do that.

[Whatever his reason, she can tell he's upset, and her promise is genuine. Nevermind that it's mostly because she has a very rudimentary idea on what Christmas even is, but she doesn't have to ask him any more about it.]

I like your fort. [She reaches her hand in, carefully.] My name is Pyrrha Nikos. What's yours?

Because its the worst time of the year! Its noisy and miserable, and the worst part is that everyone thinks that I should all be bright and chipper about it.

Well, I guess it can be rough sometimes but there's lots of good things about it too. I...can't say I've met many kids that felt that way about it, though.

Yeah, well maybe I'm just special that way. And I don't really see anything good about it.

Spending time with your family? Candy canes and fudge and hot chocolate? Presents? None of that sounds good?

My family isn't here. And I hated all of that stuff even at home.

[Passing through the lobby the Doctor sees the overturned furniture piled in the corner. Intriguing, enough to make him stop and put his hands in his pockets. Looking around he doesn't see anything else that would correspond to the furniture being the way it is. It only takes another moment and he deducts, and assesses what he believes is the reason.

A grin spreads across his face and he walks with a bounce to his step over to the furniture to make his delighted conclusion.]

A fort! Blimey an honest to goodness homemade fort! It's been forever since I've seen a good one of these!

[Danny is peering suspiciously out of his corner.]

What?! No! Forts are fantastic ways to challenge your mind and enjoy some creativity!

Are you fighting off an army or hiding in the depths of a cave?

[The Doctor may or may not have heard the reason behind Danny's fort from the journal in his jacket pocket. Either way, he's not going for the direct approach.]

I'm avoiding the mistletoe. And Christmas. And especially people all full of that Christmas spirit junk.

Well I can understand the mistletoe. All that kissing and exchanging of bodily liquids and all that stuff, but Christmas... How can you not love Christmas?! The bells ringing and people are happy and it's a time for giving and peace...

Although my Christmas's usually have an explosion and alien attack involved, but they always have happy endings!

Yeah, well my christmases start out with misery and end in humiliation. I don't see anything to like.
