[The happy exclamation comes over the journals. Marie continues to chat as there are the sounds of a key being turned in a lock... followed by dead silence. There's a thud as the journal falls to the dirt road, then coffee spills across the bottom of the page.]

[ She did not expect that. She really didn't expect that. And she didn't hear or smell or sense anyone approach!! and no one is around either, but there was a voice that made her jump up in a tree. And break a branch with a loud crash. So, dangling from where that branch was before, she sounds very alarmed. ]

WHERE'S THE FIGHT!?!

[ Because she was in the middle of a war just two months ago and the summit that she just came from the day before was sort of a lot tense. ]

What? There's not? [ huh.... ] No, I just didn't expect someone suddenly yelling when there's no one even close by.

Yeah, I got here yesterday, and I found a book then, but I put it in my clothes, why is it suddenly making me hear you?

Magic. [You can't see Jennifer, but she's wincing. Wizard did it. That was the way things tended to work in Paradisa.] Anything anybody writes in this journal can be seen and often heard by anybody else who has one.

That's annoying. Another dumb spell... [ The magicians of this place (no it was the castle itself that was some sort of magician) had way too much free time. ]Only what's written? But I'm not writing right now?

A useful one, though. Oh, and I forgot the part where it can pick up and write what you're dictating, too. Even if you didn't mean to dictate, that is.

You know, I've never stopped to think about it. Maybe it's just the castle having an odd sense of humor.

Then it's a weird sense of humor. But people write in these things, too, right? How do I get those things?

You can just wish for a pen or pencil or something to write with. Literally, just wish for it and it will appear.

Sure, that works- it might depend on how big a weight we're talking about, though.

Well, I wouldn't go THAT far. There are limits to what you can wish for anyway, so it probably wouldn't work.

Might depend on what form it was in. Even then, one ton might be a bit too heavy. Besides, what would you do with it once it appears?

It's not at all heavy. And I'd do weight training, of course.

Then how do you get to know a lot about people?

I'm a doctor, so what I know about people tends to be medical things.

What kind of doctor?

I do a little bit of everything- in Paradisa, I mostly end up treating injuries. Broken bones and colds and the like.
