eleventh. written.

Today I have been in this place for a year. There is still much I do not understand about its ways as well as the ways of the people who live here, including all of you. There are times where I think I am adjusting, where I think I am understanding, but then something happens and it is clear that I am not.

I am not sure if I will ever understand.

There is a man here now by the name of Haytham Kenway. Treat him as genially as you like, but I warn you not to trust him. - Connor

[Assassins + Maria Thorpe - Edward Kenway]
He is a Templar. I do not ask for favours lightly, but I will ask you this: Do not kill him for this fact only; there is no point in this world. - Connor

[They didn't exactly do into detail] It's kind of like that, but there's only the one God, and he created the whole world by himself in seven days. At least, according to our stories.

I guess so, when you say it like that. I suppose that's what some people used as an excuse. If God created the whole world, then all of it belongs to us. [She doesn't exactly approve of this mindset, but that's the history of it in a nutshell. Nothing she can do to change it]

[She's not thrilled with it either.]

Yeah. Well that's the typical white European mindset for you. They've spend hundreds of years conquering each other, after all.

There are always different reasons for it, but no world is free from war forever.

Do your people fight each other a lot too?

[It seemed like a natural thing to ask. She's seen a lot of war for lots of different reasons. That any group of people wouldn't find conflict at least some of the time seems strange to her. Although, in a way, encouraging]

I see. Well, war does happen a lot. It's shaped most of the nations in Europe and will continue to do so well past your own time. Or did, at least in my own world. None of them are obligated to help another when a war starts, but they do form alliances.
