What... the hell is happening?

[Is the only mutter you hear, as Katniss pulls back another shot, and then curses quietly.] Circles! All my arrows are going in circles in mid-air! What kind of ... weird gravitational nonsense is going on now?

I really wish I had an answer for you, but I've been asking myself the same damn question. [Kate is speaking into the journal, because right now she's kind of been sticking to her room. The spirals are making her uneasy, and she's noticing them everywhere.]

Have you ever seen anything like this before? [She'd rather go down there and check it out for herself, but she keeps putting off leaving her room. Even in there, she keeps noticing the spirals more and more.] I know strange things are kind of... common here. And this definitely qualifies as strange.

And why. What's the point of this? [She clears her throat.] Are you, uh... Do you think they're kinda creepy? [It's a new feeling for her. There isn't a lot that scares her, especially something little like stupid spirals.]

Oh yes. I think they are completely creepy. Which makes me angry. [Fear always made Katniss angry. She hated being afraid.]

[They have that much in common. Kate hasn't quite reached the point of anger yet, since it is still all new to her, and she's still trying to register the fact that a simple shape is making her so uneasy.]

I want to know what it means. I really don't like getting screwed with.

It isn't me, I can promise ya that much. There seems ta be some kinda...I dunno...thing happenin' around here. Somethin' weird's going on. Moreso than usual.

Great. Just ... Great. It's a Thing. It's probably a crazy Bad Thing. [Katniss snarled, looking around with narrowed gray eyes.] You notice anything else, David?

Aye, that's probably a fair assessment.

I'm sure ye've noticed the spirals, haven't ya? People're doodlin' 'em in the journal, an' I've seen 'em all around the castle, too. In the architecture, an' painted all over the bloody walls. There's a thing I could try, if it's even possible here, ta see how deep this goes, see if it's somethin' ta be worried about.

[While David has indulged his telepathy, he's not bothered to see if Paradisa has a Psychosphere he can traverse, because it might be the place to look if...whatever it was that was happening was something that could be fought or reversed.]

[She's silent for a moment, before she sighed.] I'm shooting in spirals. Everything is spirals. What the hell does that mean?

[She bit her bottom lip, before she looked over at her journal.] Is it dangerous?

Aye, I can see how y'might be.

Dunno jus' yet. What I've got ta do's gonna take me some time. It's a wee psychic thing I can do, but it's not like pluckin' the thoughts from a person's head.

[He pauses.]

Y'ever heard o' the "Universal Consciousness" theory? [He pauses, considering his own question.] I'm guessin' probably not. Basic gist of it's that everyone on earth's connected to each other, subconsciously. Like...sort o' a hive-mind sorta thing. There're stories o' primitive tribes tappin' inta this in order ta facilitate tribal unity an' survival, that sorta stuff. When people can tap inta this, there's no limits ta what they can do, but...if ya get a bad egg in the mix, it spreads like a bloody wildfire, an' the whole hive's infected.

If we were ta think o' Paradisa bein' like a hive, it's only a matter o' time before...whatever this is spreads ta every corner o' this place, assumin' that it's as bad as we think it is. I can't say for sure jus' yet, but I'll let ya know once I've got some more info.

[Katniss's lips pressed into a thin line as she soaked in everything that David said. She sighed, starting to pace around her room again. Pacing around.]

I guess it's possible ... but do you honestly think you ought to be playing with the hive mind?

Oh, there'd be no playin' involved, luv. I know better'n ta mess with minds on a mass scale like that. All I wanna do is have a look, see how deeply rooted this all is. If it's somethin' that can be fixed, I'd hafta work on individuals. Can't risk anything bigger'n that.

[She folded her arms over her chest, and let out a long sigh.] I can't stop you. I'll just point out that if you get your mind scrambled ... no one here can fix it.

Are you certain it's the arrows, and not just your view of them? I've found myself...walking in circles all over the castle, something could affecting our vision, our sense of balance...

I ... don't know, honestly. [She hadn't thought of that.] Are we seeing the spirals? Or are they really here?

I can't say, I try not to look at them, but—I can still feel them.

What does it feel like? Can you describe it? [Because if they were all feeling the same thing - it was definitely castle related.]

It's just the world, turning in on itself in a spiral. Almost beautiful in its way, but...

[But disturbing as well, and terribly frustrating both in that it's happening at all and that she can't find the right words to describe it.]

Yes, but what does it mean? Why is everything ... turning in on itself? I'm not sure I like where this is going.
