16th Car - Spiral induced panic attack [Action]

[Aaron stumbles through the corridor with his journal clenched under his arm. He's hyperventilating and sweating. His vision has turned into tunnel vision and he scrapes his fingers against the walls. He's having a full blown panic attack. He had seen those tornadoes and other spirals and his already fragile state of mind had faltered badly.]

[Bruce sees him and approaches, trying to place himself so the other man can see him coming. He doesn't want to startle him. Holding his hands out from his sides, Bruce speaks in a firm, calm voice.]

Sir? My name is Bruce Banner. You're hyperventilating. You need to control your breathing. Will you let me help?

I can't.... I can't stop. [Aaron responds and focuses on the other man. It doesn't help much. He rest heavily against the wall and arches forward. Everything is fuzzy and spinning. His heart beats so hard it almost shuts out every other sound.]

I'm not feeling alright.

[beastisbeauty]

I know, but it's going to be fine. Just do what I say, all right? You need to slow your breathing. I want you to imagine you're pulling air into your stomach, not your lungs. Push your stomach muscles out, when you breath in, okay?

[teenagebadboy]

[Aaron nods and tries to slow down his breathing. He does as the other man suggests. It takes several minutes before his breathing has started to calm down.]

Ta. [Glances up.] I haven't had a panic attack in a long time but things just got too bad lately.

[Aaron feels embarrassed over himself. He hides his bleeding fingers by shaping his hands into fists.]

[Bruce nods, relaxing as the man's breathing evens out.]

Was it the spirals? They seem to be creating fear.

[Getting away from the spirals was one of the reasons Bruce had let Hulk out to play with Chewie. He doesn't want the other man to panic, so decides to distract him for a bit.]

I'm Bruce Banner. It's good to meet you.

[Aaron nods. He doesn't know exactly why he's so scared but it paralyzes him. He can't stop being afraid.]

Aaron. Aaron Livesy. That's me.

Are you feeling stronger now, Mr. Livesy? It might help, if we sat outside for a bit.

[teenagebadboy]

Just call me Aaron. [Aaron replies and makes a face. At the suggestion of going out he violently shakes his head.] No. I'm not going outside where those tornadoes and snails roams.

Okay, Aaron. Um. Sorry, I didn't know about the tornadoes...and snails? What's going on?

[teenagebadboy]

Spirals. Spirals everywhere. I hate it.

[beastisbeauty]

[Bruce nods, sighing.]

Yeah. I went out into the farmland to get away from them.

[teenagebadboy]

Was the farmland safe?

[beastisbeauty]

Safer than the castle at least. I, uh, was pretty distracted, while I was out there.

[teenagebadboy]

All right. Maybe we can go there then. I just want to get away from these horrible spirals.

[beastisbeauty]

All right. We'll try, but being out in the open with tornadoes is a rather bad idea. It's up to you though. I'll go with you, if that's what you want.

[teenagebadboy]

Oh. Then I'll stay here. [Clenches his jaw.]

[beastisbeauty]

[Bruce nods.] Yeah. I know it's emotionally distressing, but probably safer. Just keep your focus on your breathing and try to control your emotions. Do you meditate?

[teenagebadboy]

[Aaron shakes his head.] No I doesn't meditate. It's easier for me to focus on work than sit around and meditating.

[beastisbeauty]

[Bruce nods. That reminds him of Tony.]

Yeah, I can understand that. What sort of work do you do?

[teenagebadboy]

I'm a mechanic. I also helps out at my mate's farm from time to time. Can't do that now though since the castle took my ability to use certain tools away. [As he talks he shifts nervously. The bad spirals is still at the back of his mind. But it helps to just talk.}

Which tools can't you use? We could always tinker around in the clinic's labs. I'm a scientist, myself, but I do a bit of engineering.

[teenagebadboy]

I haven't tested every tool. [Makes a face] I know that I can't use hammers, screwdrivers or drills.

[beastisbeauty]

I think we can avoid those. If anything, going through an toolbox and seeing what you can and can't use should be distracting.

[teenagebadboy]

[Aaron nods. A distraction would be good to keep him out of his own head and his bad feelings.]

[Bruce smiled, standing back a bit, waiting for Aaron to join him.]

What sort of machines do you work on, when you're at home?

[teenagebadboy]

I work as a mechanic. So mostly cars but also motorbikes and vans. I sometimes fixes dishwashers and change light bulbs at home.

[beastisbeauty]

Fair enough. Maybe we can work on something cool for people to zoom around Paradisa in. [Bruce grins, lopsidedly, mostly joking. Mostly.]

[Aaron shakes his head but he got a small smile on his face.] Would have to be some kind of all-terrain tho, seeing as there are no roads.

[beastisbeauty]

[Bruce grins, nodding.] Yeah, but that might actually be a good thing. The way things are around here, having a speedy getaway would come in handy.

The lack of roads are not a good thing. Just sayin'.

Um. Yes, that's certainly true. I could design roads and way to lay them, but it would take a group of people to actually build the road.

[teenagebadboy]

Seems to be a lot of work for nothing. Other than the town there's nowhere else to go. Seems stupid to put all that work into it.

Maybe, maybe not. If nothing else, people could use the vehicles for recreation.

True. That could be fun. Drive off to burn some rubber.

Sure. If enough people took it up, we could even run competitions.

Yeah, sounds fun. [Smiles a little. He likes cars a lot.]

Good. [Bruce grins at him.] We can kill two birds with one stone.
