[It takes him a little while to think on how to do this. His journal is open and he's lightly tapping his fingers against the pages in thought. It almost seems like he's not aware he's doing it until he speaks.]

There is one who arrived recently who is alike a sister to me. Her name is Tauriel and I would be glad if you were all to treat her as kindly as you would treat me.

Aye, that's puttin' it mildly. Not that some of it isn't deserved, but I'm not that bloke any more. Tryin' hard not t'be.

About two months now, it's been. I'm still gettin' used ta things, gettin' ta know people. Still workin' out how I can make myself useful around here, heh.

I am glad for that.

[He has no idea what kind of person he was before but his confirmation is enough. And it does make him glad he's trying not to be that kind of person, it means one less person he has to worry about threatening Tauriel or Thranduil.]

You an' me both. I was a dumb kid with too much power, but none o' the brains ta use 'em right, durin' those rare moments when I was myself. It's a long story.

[David could blame all of his past mistakes on his mental illness, sure, but some of the worst things he's done, he did fully conscious of what he was doing. The Age of Apocalypse was entirely his fault, for thinking he could make things better by changing the past. He likes to think that he's wiser now, for having made the cosmic-scale mistakes he has.]

Wisdom comes with age and experience. I was a reckless child myself, leaving my father to worry many times.

[Which is strange coming from Legolas, the elf who would break into song throughout the quest, tease and joke with his companions to lighten a somber mood. And when the elves of his realm were often described by their kin as 'less wise and more dangerous.']

You would be welcome to join me in going hunting, if ever you wish. I imagine that would be something to focus upon.

Heh, can't imagine any o' you elf-folks bein' reckless. That whole immortality thing seems like it'd come with ancient wisdom as part of the whole package.

[David tries to picture a reckless elf, and it just makes him laugh.]

I've never been much o' a hunter before, but I'm sure I can learn quick enough. May have a power or two in my bag o' tricks that'd come in handy for it. I should probably learn how ta shoot a bow, too. What with this place bein' so willin' ta take people's powers away.

[He laughs. He can't help it.] Oh no, I assure you, I was quite reckless. If you have chance to speak with King Thranduil, he will tell you I speak truth.

[He was a terrible thing, climbing the throne, his father, anything tall.]

Who better to learn to use a bow from but an elf whose skill is only exceeded by one other?

[Almost instinctively, David picks the image of Thranduil out of Legolas's head, sees the stern quietness that reminds him eerily of his own father.]

My da'd probably tell ya the same of me, though my "recklessness" was a wee bit more dangerous.

[Pulling anyone he could into the labyrinth of his mind, distorting reality to one of his liking, etc.]

One other? Quite the modest one, aren't ya?

[He laughs, nevertheless grateful to be learning things unrelated to his powers.]
