Anyone looking out a window - provided it was in the right direction - could probably spot Duke. He is wearing his normal red and black, and hasn't seen fit to do anything to his white hair, as usual, so it isn't like he blends in. He also is holding a glowing sword. The red isn't terribly bright, but there is white glowing from under and about his fingers. Its a little bright.

His behavior is a bit odder - he paces out a clear section once, twice, then circles it. In his footsteps, he leaves a faint red trail that looks quite a bit like strings of math. Once complete, it flares for a second, then the math turns into words - WARNING, CROSS CAREFULLY - in letters about a hand tall. In the center of his new bubble, he sits on... nothing, heels floating a half inch or so above the grass, blade across his lap.

What to work on first? He had been reading about quite a few different types of magic, what was the most interesting to try?

Within a few minutes, there looks like someone's wooden, single story house, although its oddly lacking details - like the space between planks of wood, or the color of the wood isn't quite right. Illusions are hard when you can't see. ]

... What do worlds have, when they do not have what are considered monsters? [ He sounds a little distant, like he's focusing on something else entirely. He is, so he is speaking a bit slowly. ]

Are they dull and uneventful, without mushrooms that grow taller than two men standing atop each other, or do their ... humans, their non-monsters, grow to more variety to take their places?

What qualifies as a 'monster'? I mean, we have aliens and they can by total douchebags.

This is where it varies. The simplest answer would be "non-human", but that would be an insult to those who are not human here.

A being that acts, consistently, in a hostile, aggressive, hindering way toward... humans, in this case, whether they have provoked it or not.

So, what about other humans that fit that description? No one hinders us like we do.

Meant more of "I see a large orange bird with an axe for a beak, I ought to go a different direction."

[Get an amused but bitter snort] Hell, I think that every time I see a Freelancer... or Caboose, so guess they count.

Don't get me wrong... I'm not going to be excited to see one of those 'honk blarging' assholes, but I'm not going to immediately start shooting either. [Mostly because the last time he met one unexpectedly, he jumped clean out of his body... but details.]

... Honk... Blarging? [ Does he sound uncomfortable saying that particular noise combination? He hasn't needed to... ever before this. What does that even mean. ]

Waiting until an obvious charge for you is generally a good method. I am generally not bothered by what is considered monsters of my world, but that does not hold true for others.

It's how they talk. How they fit a whole language in there I have no idea but whatever.

I don't know about charging... sounding pissed off and pointing their guns is enough for me. I don't know if I'm bothered by them, I'm not totally racist.

Except for Tuckers kid... that thing kind of freaks me out.

Charging, some other sort of aggressive stance. I assume the general relationship is "shoot, or be shot", so they likely fall into 'monsters'.

[ Until one plays nice? Who knows. ]

That's usually how a war works.

But the war's over now so... I mean hell, we worked with one on his crazy quest thing. That didn't actually go very well.

War makes things both simpler and more complicated, depending on whether you are in it or recovering after.

[ He has no idea how to comment on that 'quest thing'. So he leaves it at that. ]
