[ Action
Anyone looking out a window - provided it was in the right direction - could probably spot Duke. He is wearing his normal red and black, and hasn't seen fit to do anything to his white hair, as usual, so it isn't like he blends in. He also is holding a glowing sword. The red isn't terribly bright, but there is white glowing from under and about his fingers. Its a little bright.
His behavior is a bit odder - he paces out a clear section once, twice, then circles it. In his footsteps, he leaves a faint red trail that looks quite a bit like strings of math. Once complete, it flares for a second, then the math turns into words - WARNING, CROSS CAREFULLY - in letters about a hand tall. In the center of his new bubble, he sits on... nothing, heels floating a half inch or so above the grass, blade across his lap.
What to work on first? He had been reading about quite a few different types of magic, what was the most interesting to try?
Within a few minutes, there looks like someone's wooden, single story house, although its oddly lacking details - like the space between planks of wood, or the color of the wood isn't quite right. Illusions are hard when you can't see. ]
[ Dictated ]
... What do worlds have, when they do not have what are considered monsters? [ He sounds a little distant, like he's focusing on something else entirely. He is, so he is speaking a bit slowly. ]
Are they dull and uneventful, without mushrooms that grow taller than two men standing atop each other, or do their ... humans, their non-monsters, grow to more variety to take their places?

Re: action;
[ He sucked on his lip, trying his best work through that. Duke's speech habits were sometimes hard to decipher, and now was no exception. His brows puckered as he worked through them, or tried to. ]
So this is practice, then?
action;
[ And he thought he was being clear- ]
Re: action;
Ah, I see. You do not mind an audience?
action;
Re: action;
No, I am happy to render aid any way I can. I shall do my best.
[ He came closer now, assured that the magic being practiced was not lethal in nature, but he did not cross over the barrier of it either. ]
action;
You can cross, if you like. It was mostly a warning, in case I thought to practice something else first. It is in place now, if or when I wish to move on.
[ But whether Vanyel does or not, Duke goes back to focusing on 'his' house. He's getting a little better with details - although all the planks of wood have the same pattern of lights and darks for grain. ]
Re: action;
[ Vanyel nodded and came through, looking around the space curiously, trying to make out what Duke was building.
He noticed the sameness of the wood, like someone had taken a single, particular piece and used it over and over again, causing a pattern in the banding and knots. ]
Vary the wood. It will help it not catch the eye so.
action;
[ The grain patterns fuzz for a moment. If Vanyel walks the entire perimeter, he will likely find that a specific board does have a few copies, but not all in a row, or in any particular pattern. ]
Is that better?
[ It really looks like a simple house. A table and chairs form after a moment, inside. They have the same wood issue for a moment, then switch to a more varied appearance. ]
Re: action;
Oh yes, much. It's very real. You are quite talented with this, Duke.
action;
... good to know memory is fairly good...
Re: action;
Can you do animate things with this gift? Or, creatures? People?
