040 Summons ❈ Dictated (Backdated to Day 2)

[It's pretty early in the day when Sheena's voice comes over the journal--sounding just a little exhausted. Or maybe it's because of the heat.]

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but that room that changes seasons won't open, so there's no way to escape the heat that way. However, I've kinda set up my own version where the pool is.

As some may know [Doctor] I have a little Ice Magic. It's not much, but it's enough to help keep drinks cold and possibly put a chill to the water in the pool.

[She's also put a sheet of ice on a small section of the walls, which, of course, is already melting, but it's cool--she hopes--and headed for the pool.]

So, if you're having trouble in this heat, don't hesitate to come here. Or I'll come get you. I don't mind. [She doesn't want anyone suffering.]

[ This heat isn't terrible (yet). what are you all panicking about.. ]

How does it sound too cold?

[ A beat. ]

You grew up in a warm climate, didn't you?

And avoided the ice flows to the north and wintered in the desert.

[ So he avoided the cold as best he could as well. ]

Well, I didn't make any ice bergs, if that's what you're worried about!

It's just a nice coolness to help beat the heat, that's all.

Not aiming to give people hypothermia to avoid the heat?

Now why would I do something like that? Getting sick would only be worse in this weather.

I just want to alleviate the heat, that's all.

[ Geez, Duke. Give her some credit. ]

[ Oh no-

Duke is awkwardly silent for a moment. ]

I was attempting humor... [ And clearly he failed. Oops, maybe he should stick to not doing that. ]

I'm sorry, Duke; I should have realized.

[ Although, she can't recall when he's tried humor before. ]

I think this heat is starting to get to me.

[ Translation: Don't stop trying it! ]

[ He doesn't try often - it probably shows. ]

... I am not very good at it, so perhaps on both of us. [ Trying not to let her take all the awkward blame! ]

[ Still doesn't mean he should stop trying. ]

Maybe. But please don't stop because of a misunderstanding.

[ Then her tone becomes impish. ]

So...You wanna come down here and get hypothermia?

[ Ha ha ha ha- ]

Maybe just for a little.

[ Now that's comedy! ]

Well, come on down. I promise that the entire area isn't frozen, so there's a spot you'll be comfortable in.

... the pool area...

[ It doesn't take him that long to head down there.

And guess what? He comes with a breeze. ]

Yep!

[ She has every confidence in the man's ability to find the room--especially since she left the door open and the sound of water can distinctly be heard.

She's not looking towards the door when he enters, however, but that breeze of his makes her turn around. ]

Duke! Are you using wind magic?

Yes.

[ And he's only wearing one coat, rather than the normal two. The heat is bothering him a little bit. ]

But... Wouldn't that make you cold, too? Not as cold as ice, but cold?

[ Especially with only one coat on? ]

It mostly moves the warm air about. A little bit of circulation, much better than still hot air.

[ He flicks his hand a little, and here you go, Sheena, he moved his breeze over there. ]

Why would you want to have warm air around you during a heat wave?

[ Oh, and Duke, that breeze you just sent over feels good in her cold area. ]

See? Cool is what you want. But that's not where I am right now. I'm in the cold section. let me move over.

Its moving air - it feels better having it than not.

[ He's using it because he absolutely sucks at ice and water, okay? ]

...?

[ He'll.. just stand here then? ]

Well then, come over here where it's cooler!

[ She had moved to a spot in between the temperatures and was now talking so he can find her.

There's no way she's letting him stand there, not knowing where to go. ]

[ Thank you Sheena.

So Duke takes a couple steps over and stops in the edge of the breeze. ]

... Perhaps I should try keeping a container of ice nearby. [ This was much better. ]

[ He hadn't actually thought she'd leave him there, had he? She'd never do something like that to him.

She chuckles lightly at his comment. ]

There's ice on the walls and floor next to you. I don't think a container is necessary.

[ She moves closer, her voice quiet. ]

There's a place to sit next to you, Duke. Maybe we can sit and talk for a bit?

[ It had been a while. ]

.... When.. not here. [ That's what he meant, honest.

He tilts his head. Next to him, okay, which next to him is that. He finds it with a sweep of magic, and settles carefully. ]

... What about?

[ Remember, he's terrible at this conversing thing. Honest. ]

Oh. Well that makes sense. Although, I doubt anyone would mind you staying here for a while.

[ Sorry, Duke, but she has faith in your abilities, so that's why she hadn't said exactly where. ]

Oh. Anything. Everything. How's the Minicoid?

Well... its not magic. But I've got some ghost ice.

That's right! You were using it that one time!

[ You know, when she was up on the roof and saw you as a ghost the first time? ]

"Yeah, I'm kind of out of practice though."

[ She chuckles fondly in response. ]

Don't worry about it; just do what you can! Even if it's a small spot, it's one more thing that helps!

Ooh, I can help! [If she wants snow in the pool, that is.]

You can! That'll be terrific!

[ Snow in the pool sounds both pretty and nice. ]

I'll definitely owe you!

Hehehe! [She giggles bashfully.]

Don't worry about it. It'll be my pleasure!

Still...

[ Even though she sounds like it's fun for her: ]

I think I should do something for you in return.

Well...

If you insist! [Sugar certainly won't say no.]

I do insist!

[ A brief pause. ]

Tell you what. When this is over, I'll treat you to a dinner made to forget about a heatwave.

[ Cold foods, cold drinks, ice cream...or they can just straight for the ice cream.]

Really?? Waffo~!

[There's nothing Sugar loves more than food. (Except perhaps certain people and snow.)]

[ Sheena chuckles happily. ]

Yes, really!

[ Well, Sheena likes cooking. And she also likes snow. It's kind of pretty. ]

[Once Sugar calms down, she remembers what the food was about.]

I'll be down right away!

[ Even if she hadn't remembered, Sheena still would have cooked the meal for her. ]
