22th Car - Chains [Dicated]

[Filtered away from anyone who wants the residents harm.]

[The issue with his own background was the lack of defensive skills. He could throw a punch but not cast magic or use a gun. So he had to do what he had to do. There's just one issue.]

Could anyone help me out with putting up chains and other stuff in my room? I can't use tools because of my bloody loss.

Why are you putting up chains?

_{[ He could take some guesses, and he'll help, but it is a rather odd request. ]}

Cos I can't put up wards and other fancy stuff like that. I want to secure my room from this weird creatures which are going around killing people.

I see. Well, I'll come and help you and set wards too while I am at it. I cannot say they will do anything, but I do not want you without protection.

his funk from previous weeks since finding out Tylendel had gone, falling
into the routine of being a Herald first and letting that consume him.

long tunic and trews and soft boots, and rapped on the door sharply.
Already his eyes were scanning Aaron's doorway, trying to figure what sort
of wards to put up - possibly something with light? ]}

[Aaron nods at Vanyel as he approaches] Alright? So wards ey? Can't say I know much about that kind of thing.

It might be best if I use a focus stone and affix it. More stable that way, I think.

_{[ He looked to him, his smile apologetic. ]}

It's rather solitary work. Do you have a chair I can sit in for a bit while I work the spells? You could mark the places you wish the chains to go in the mean time?

Yeah sure I got a chair you can borrow. [Aaron responded and headed back into his room. However before he left he'd give Vanyel a curious look. He didn't know anything about magic. It was foreign to him.

He returned a bit later with a chair and a red marker.]

Will it take long? To affix stuff?

No, not very. I just need to be able to concentrate for a bit. It's a bit harder here since I don't have a node to draw from, and with a stone, if another magic user comes, they should be able to lace it into the spell better since it will be more stable.

_{[ He took the seat and nodded his thanks, wishing up a pale white
stone into his hand and closing his eyes as he cupped it in his lap, lips
moving the tiniest bit as he wove magic into the focus stone, his
particular stone, the one easiest for his magic to affix and flow through.
]}

[Aaron fall silent and watches the other man with a frown on his face. He didn't really understand all of this and normally he wouldn't care. But since arriving here a lot of his preconceptions had changed.]

_{[ The work was quiet and not really all that flashy. His magic was
not, at any rate. He finished and stood, cupping the jewel in his hand and
feeling a bit exhausted for his efforts. Without a node to draw on, he had
to use his own magic reserves, and while they were deep, they were not
endless either. At the least he kept him from going grayer than he already
had. ]}

If we could find a way to affix this to either the inside of your door or atop it, that would work best.

That's it? It doesn't look like much. [Glances at the stone. He then looks up with a frown.] You'll have to figure out how to put it on the door yourself. I can't use tools so I won't be much of use.

Why can you not use tools?

_{[ He looked at the size of the jewel in his hand and back up, and
thought of something Jennifer had taught him - super glue. He wished up a
bottle and smiled, applying it to the back of the jewel and reaching up to
press it over the center frame of the door. ]}

It's my loss. I despise it. I'm a mechanic by trade but with this loss I can't do anything.

[Scowls and watches as Vanyel applies the stone. He should have thought about glue. That's not a tool so he should be able to use it. For what it's worth.]

Oh, I'm sorry. I know how you feel. I love to play music, but I cannot touch an instrument or even write a note. At least I can still listen to it. Small favors I suppose.

Lucky you ey. It's kinda hard to see any "small favor" with my loss.

Well - you can still direct people, perhaps? It is not the same, I know, but it might be something.
