3 ⓢ elephant | Backdated to February 29th

[Ask for one thing, get another.

In this case, a live elephant. It certainly looks out of place, but at least the castle has put it down in the lobby, instead of in a much-too-small room, or outside in the cold. Clark is playing with it, kind of like one might play with a dog –– fetch, leading it around with an apple, tossing around a ball.

He's enjoying himself today, especially considering the upcoming nuptials.

The elephant bumps him with its trunk, knocking his journal out of his pocket and to the floor. Clark just rolls with it. Why not? He starts tussling with the elephant, gently, while speaking.]

You know... today isn't so bad. You learn something new all the time.

I think I'd like to visit Africa someday.

[ nudge is coming in from outside (the weirdness of the stairs had been too much to deal with, so she took the short way down) and she just sort of stares at this with her mouth open. how has he not been squished to jelly yet... ]

[452, on the other hand, is just staring up at this elephant in silent wonder. She's never seen anything like it before ever, and the way Clark is just PLAYING with it is ... yeah ... she can't. And she'll just be over here, lingering in the doorway and watching.]

[He's playing tug of war with the elephant, one-handed. He looks up when he hears Nudge open the door, though, and he smiles. He knows how weird this looks, though.]

Hey. It's okay, it's a nice elephant.

[supes]

[He notices her, even if he is a little preoccupied by the elephant. He glances at her and beckons her over.]

If you want to come pet it, it's okay. It's safe.

[whatialways_do]

[she's hesitant at first, because ... adults being nice to her, what is that? But she'll eventually make her way closer, and reach out to place her hand on the elephant's trunk gently]

[He smiles, keeping one hand on the elephant's big neck.]

What do you think? Pretty cool, huh?

[there's a fierce nod as her smile widens, inching a bit closer]

It feels like leather.

Mmmhm. Their skin's about an inch thick, too.

Like a tank. Big with a lot of armor.

[ ... unfortunately that's the most adequate comparison her military-trained mind had to offer]

[It's probably the same comparison he would have made -– there isn't much else to compare it to.]

I guess that's why ancient Persians used to use them in war. They seem too friendly to be war animals, though.

Looks can be deceiving.

True. I bet if this guy was really mad, he could do a lot of damage.

[nods a bit before tipping her head back to look at Clark]

Is he yours?

[supes]

The castle's going a little haywire today, and this guy just showed up in front of me. I figured I'd play with him... it's not every day you get to meet an elephant.

[and because there is that small bit of little kid in her, there's a small smile]

Do you think you'll get to keep him?

[supes]

I don't think he'll fit in my apartment, and I don't think elephants are meant to survive the winter. I don't know what will happen to him.

[He pulls a couple peanuts out of his pocket and offers them to her.]

Maybe the castle will take him away. But if he stays here, I guess I'll make sure he's provided for.

[takes the peanuts from him before looking back up at him quizzically. she's not entirely sure why he's giving them to her]

There isn't a zoo?

[supes]

Not now. There's a greenhouse he might like, though.

[He smiles at that look, pointedly pulling out a few more peanuts and putting them in the flat of his hand. He offers it to the elephant, which uses its trunk to snuffle at them and then pick them up, carrying them to its mouth. Om nom nom.]

[Oh! Feed the elephant. She can totally do that. She turns to face the elephant again, holding up her hand with the peanuts in them, cupped just slightly so that they don't fall]

There should be a zoo. If the castle is going to randomly create elephants, they should have a place to keep them.

I wish the castle was that responsible. I think it'd be nice, too, for people to be able to see these animals. It's not an experience many people get.

[there's a bit of a giggle as the elephant snuffs the peanuts out of her hands]

Does it create animals like this often?

[supes]

Not usually. I've seen a tiger, but otherwise it's just mostly horses, dogs, and cats.

The room I woke up in has a lot of cats.

[though she seems rather pleased with that fact -- feline to feline.]

I ... don't know. It's a little ... fuzzy.
