I forgot to say it after Christmas and... I'm not sure if castles can talk or even hear this... but um, thank you. For lots of things.

Would you be able to tell if it was the castle, too?

[She actually has to pause to think about that.] Perhaps. The castle has a strong presence; I should think I would recognize it in another. Yet it also has shown itself more than capable of interfering with my gift.

The castle likes to be secretive... [ A pause; was it the castle she did speak to before? She can't tell. She doesn't want to bring it up yet either... ]

Oh, the food and tea will get cold! [ She starts adjusting the plates so there's one for both of them. In the cups there is green tea! She also has chopsticks laid out, but on Galadriel's side she's put a fork, spoon, and knife -- just in case. ]

[Good idea, Uru. Galadriel wouldn't have the faintest idea of what to do with chopsticks.]

It looks wonderful, dear one. I must thank you again for having me.

[ She grins, clapping her hands together. ]

You're welcome, Galadriel! I hope you'll like the food. [ She wanted to make it fancy and such, but then decided to go with what she was most familiar and good with.

She closes her eyes, for a second. ]

Thank you for the meal!

[ And picks up her chopsticks. ]

I am sure I shall. [Ah, a grace. She's appropriately silent for that moment and then picks up her fork.]

[ She picks up some rice with the chopsticks first and digs into that. ]

It's not fancy... but this is a pretty common dinner back home for me!

Then I am all the more glad to sample it. [She watches Uru wield the chopsticks for a second before beginning to eat her food with her fork.] In some ways, we know very little of each other. It is pleasant to share small things such as this.

Oh, that's right! We talked about my friend's hobbies a while ago, but... I don't know what your hobbies are.

Do you not? I am surprised I have not made mention of them. I take great delight in music and poetry in particular. [She also sews, weaves, and embroiders, but that's more...what every lady has to know.]

Music... [ Everything about Galadriel's world seems so... archaic. ] I guess you don't have band music in your world.

Nah, I don't think they did, but the journal's caught her playing/singing a couple of times

[She laughs a little] No indeed, unless you speak only of a number of musicians playing together. [i.e. with harps, lutes, etc.] but I have been introduced to much in my time here. I find still much music made after my time quite strange, but that is a matter of taste and custom. I may hear the skill in it.

It's really amazing, isn't it? We would have known or questioned any of these things if we didn't know about other universes.

My world is nor-- er, normal isn't right. Because to everyone else, their world is normal, too.

But it doesn't have many of the things I've seen or heard of here.

Nor does mine; even that which it does have is oft quite different from that which I have seen here. [All the other elves here, for example.]

[ She sighs as she starts to dig into the fish she cooked. ]

I'm the strangest thing from my world here...

[ Well, in her city at least. SHE REALLY IS THE ODDBALL OUT. ]

Would it comfort you to know that I am considered quite strange in my world as well? It need not be a negative thing. [Galadriel is the exception to everything.]

[ Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. She nearly drops her chopsticks in surprise. ]

Eh? There's no way!

I have told you of my gift and of the unusual degree to which I posses it; it is not only strange- it inspires fear. "Sorceress of the Golden Woods," I have been called. And "elf-witch." [And from her tone, it's clear that these are not compliments.]

I am also the only living woman of my kind to have wielded steel in battle. The Noldor are few and far between; my native tongue was once forbidden among the Sindar and now it is all but dead.

[ Reminds her a bit of the fear of mutants back in Kitty and Julian's world. ]

People get scared of things they don't understand...

[Except that Galadriel is in a position of power; she doesn't have to worry about discrimination. And she is beloved by her people- it's mostly just some humans that she terrifies.]

They do. I do not blame them for it; on the contrary, it is wise to show caution around one with abilities such as mine, particularly when their character is unknown to you.
