Good evening, folks! Just your resident Smart AI with an announcement; I've taken the liberty of cleaning up your CastleNet system. Everything is nice and tidy now, and should be so user friendly a Caveman could do it! I've left a little bit of myself in there to aid you on your way, should you find yourself in need of a little assistance, and for the more veteran users; the box in the upper right hand corner will revert it to a more streamlined and less 'big shiny button' interface.
As well, if anyone would care to direct me to entries in the journal they found particularly helpful for how one goes about life in this crazy place, I can get to transcribing them into a format that's a little easier to search and access in a pinch.
Filtered to those with computer programming knowledge
I know they're more viewed as a hobby here then anything practical, but it does have its advantages. Would anyone be interested in teaching courses here for basic computer use?
And by basic, I do mean The Cursor and You: The story of the Mouse and the Monitor.

[CastleNet has been refurbished! It's as user-friendly as BB could make it, keeping in mind the low-tech majority of the castle. The Main Page boasts links to all of the accumulated games, a list of tutorials about how to use a computer, a FAQ in-progress about Castle life, Losses, and such, and then there's the updated floor map. Residents can and are encouraged to add their own insights!]
[Meanwhile, just outside their room, Naomi sets up a keypad entry and terminal by the door. With BB getting himself out and about, through the journal or now with CastleNet, she's more worried about having a decent security system to keep him safe when she wants to step out.]
[[ooc: CastleNet is updated! Also, Journal for BB, Action for Naomi and BB!]]

Filterrrrr - Also? Huey is about to go crazy. He's an AI programmer XD
[Please to be forgiving Huey for a minute or two while he mentally keysmashes.]
Huuuh...hi. My name's...umm....my name's Huey. Doctor...uhh....Doctor Harold Emmerich, but....umm...but everyone calls me Huey. Anyway...uhm...I'm a robotics engineer and AI programmer....
I've...umm...I've never spoken to a self-aware AI before. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Anyway...umm...I'd be happy to help. To teach people, I mean. Computer technology has been my bread and butter for the past 15 years or so.
Filter! Also fantastic! XD
So tell me a little bit about yourself? What was your world like, developmentally? What was the main purpose of the robotics and AIs that you were in charge of? [Bombarding Huey with all the questions.]
Filter foreverrrrrr
Well, I'm from the year 1974, and up until recently, I was the main engineer and programmer for an experimental weapons program called Project Peace Walker. I created 3 prototype AI-driven weapon platforms called Pupa, Chrysalis, and Cocoon, respectively, each testing a different method of propulsion and threat response. All of these were basically were just gathering data for Peace Walker itself, which is a quadrupedal nuclear launch platform, using a smart AI called Imago to make an informed decision regarding making a retaliatory nuclear strike.
[Up will pop the design schematics for Pupa, Chrysalis, Cocoon, Peace Walker, Metal Gear ZEKE, and Metal Gear Mark II]
I disagreed with the leader of the project regarding the actual use of Peace walker, so I left the project, and joined a private military company called Militaires Sans Frontières, where I do mostly small-arms development and R&D. I developed a bipedal attack robot for them called Metal Gear ZEKE, but it's nowhere near as sophisticated as Peace Walker.
[Yup. Huey builds giant robots that can pretty much destroy everything, but he himself is a staunch pacifist.]
Filter foreverrrrrr
And you were doing this all with 20th century tech? That's impressive.
Ah, was it a case of questionable ethics, perhaps?
Filter foreverrrrrr
That's pretty much the gist of it, yeah. See, he want to launch an actual nuclear strike at the U.S., to prove to them that Deterrence Theory was flawed, and that only an automated system could be trusted to make the decision a human couldn't, but the very reason I got into weapons development in the first place was to prove that Deterrence Theory was sound, that no one would dare use a weapon like Peace Walker, because of the threat of Mutually Assured Destruction.
Dittoooooooo
So, I know how it all turns out in my own Universe, but I'm betting yours is a slight alternate ... dare I ask the eventual outcome?

[As if she needed an invitation. Pfft. Basic filters? What is this nonsense? She's through them in a jiffy, taking a look around what he'd set up. Have a little yellow smiley face zipping around castlenet, BB.]
[BB]
An excellent job. Though I am not a fan of simplified interfaces, it is perhaps best considering the extremely basic skills of most of the potential userbase.
How many classes had you planned?
[Delta]
Oh, neither am I, but I very highly doubt the greater population would really get very far otherwise. I can compromise a little for their benefit. [Especially if it means more people will use it and therefore give him the opportunity to observe.]
Currently I have an infinite number of classes and courses at the ready, but I will have to wait and see what teachers I am able to round up and what interests there are in the castle at large in order to fashion a curriculum suited for the interested parties.
[BB]
Indeed. Most are not so fortunate to come from eras of high technology, though I believe slightly more than half do at least know what a computer is.
I would of course be able to fashion several online courses, but it is not practical for me to remain in the castle at present.
[That and even his patience has its limits.]
[Delta]
I'm sure online courses would be greatly received! Who doesn't want to study in the comfort of their trusty lucky underwear and nothing else?
[BB]
Please let me know what other services have been volunteered, and I will attempt to fill some of the more major gaps.
[Delta]
I have a Dr. Harold Emmeritch offering services as a teacher, 15 years experience. Operated in what I'm assuming is parallel of our own universe, 1970s.
