[well, Barney WAS going to survive all of this by holing up in the Nines and getting drunk, as he usually does - but he held a weak flashlight up to the bottles of booze and ... well, they all looked a lot less like booze and a lot more like blood.

smelled like it, too.

he turns off the flashlight] Okay, that's not creepy or anything. [turns it back on. nope, still gross blood bottles, no brandy. he turns away - and catches something out of the corner of his eye.

and then the whispering starts.]

[he whirls around to check the windows - and illuminated just behind the stained glass outside is the silhouette in profile of a slightly larger-than-normal, very curvy woman. she opens her mouth, and oh what big teeth she has.

that does it. Barney's dropping the flashlight and BOOKING IT out of the Nines]

TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!

[he might just be running into you, if you're on the 7th floor.]

Tri, I'm at the end of the hall and there are no stairs and I can -

- walk into the wall. So no. Not a hallucination. Stairs are legit gone.

Seventh -- [whatever he was going to say gets cut off by a sharp gasp as the castle fills his mind with more ominous skittering noises and a faraway shriek]

[she's on her way anyway. Luckily she's only a few floors down. She can run and probably get there]

[oh good. never mind that when she does show up he'll be huddled in the far corner of the hall, up against the wall, eyes glued to the ceiling in case they come in through the non-existent air vents]

[she finds him, this whole situation bringing back memories of her first time in Paradisa. She won't bother to ask if he's okay because he's clearly not]

Barney. Can you move?

... Yes? [he looks up at her] Can't you hear them? I -- they're so close ... if I move, they might --

I'll fight them if they come. But you need to move. It isn't good to stay here.

O-okay. [he gets to his feet, somewhat haltingly, looking around constantly as he gets his legs under him] I just -- I'd feel better if we had that armor again... and those saw blade things ...

[Triela would feel better with her gun, but since she doesn't have it she has to make due. She starts forward, making sure Barney was keeping up. The castle is a bit different from what she remembers but she navigates as best she can]

[should she mention she doesn't hear anything? Hmm, probably not]

Just relax. If any of them attack, I'll take care of them.
