Last year, didn't someone come up with a list of all the things that have happened to us over the Halloween Holiday? I know not everyone is lucky enough to have an old journal, but even those of us that do -- it's not like they are easy to sort through to go back and find something specific.

Anyone want to try and help me compile a list? I figure with everything crazy the castle has been throwing at us lately - nightmares, body-part stealing cats, body morphing [she heard about the pony thing. It counts as a horror to some people.] - we might be better off if we're prepared or at least not all taken off guard.

I remember someone even put up a directory of classic monsters that showed up courtesy of the decorations. We don't have any decorations yet, but the castle can be slightly spontaneous.

[She's at home, at her kitchen table, thinking of things and she realizes that there's something else that might help.]

Also, if you've talked about Halloween in your own journal entry - let me know where it is and I'll be sure to make sure to figure out a way to mark them down on my entry for reference.

Back home I used to compile case files for sort of things, and yes I mean the kind of things that involve vampires, werewolves, and ghosts -- and I'm just wondering if that might be something we should all start doing here. Out of the journal, because I'm starting to wonder if we can even trust these things.

They're castle provided.

[As she gets more information, she jots it down as written notes:]

Present Year -
1 Year Prior - Diwali Event
2 Years Prior - Dia de los Muertos : death masks for dead residents.
3 Years Prior - Decorations came to life. Vampires, Mummies, Werewolves, Ghosts - Giant Spider Attack

Alright, I give up! This book is nonsense, but it seems like people are communicating with it. About what, I honestly have no idea.

[No seriously where is he? :| This is totally not his and Rachel's apartment.]

But since I'm apparently not alone, anyone care to fill me in? I'm Kurt Hummel, and I--

[Wait. That's a twist.]

Why am I wearing this?

Hey, everyone! I just found out about the greatest Earth holiday ever and I have decided to throw a party for it. It's called "Día de los Muertos," which means "Day of the Dead." And despite the name it is actually two days!

Granted, I was a little surprised since, in my experience, a lot of humans get all uptight and gloomy about death. But apparently, not all human cultures feel that way about it! Día de los Muertos is a very cheerful festival. You go to the graveyard and set up pictures of the deceased, and a spread of their favorite foods and drinks, and a bunch of marigolds (which are a kind of flower), and the spirits of your loved ones will come back and visit you for the day! Isn't that cool?

... Although I guess it would be hard to tell if your loved ones are actually there if you can't see ghosts. But the probability of actual ghosts showing up at the party is pretty slim anyway, given the nature of death and the afterlife surrounding the castle, so the effect is about the same.

Anyway, whether they show up or not, the point of it is that rather than mourning people who have gone on ahead of us, we're celebrating the time we had with them, and looking forward to the eventual day when we'll be with them again.

Oh! And you know what's really cool? It starts the day after Halloween, so we can celebrate both! So, November 1st we will have a party in the graveyard behind the castle, and on the 2nd we'll go out to the Wanderer's Yard. I know, I know, the ones in the Wanderer's Yard aren't actually dead, but they've gone someplace ahead of us either way, and we still remember them. So in a way, it's still an appropriate setting.

[Here she finally takes a breather, and claps her hands once. A very fine white powder settles on the page, which she brushes off as she continues.]

Alright. So, who wants to help me make calaveras de azúcar? Sugar skulls, that is. We are going to need a lot of them if we're gonna leave one at every grave.

[Open for journal/action! Aradia can be found in the kitchen, coated to the elbows in powdered sugar and merengue. She has already molded a few lopsided skulls, but now she's beginning to get the hang of it.]

[For whatever reason, Molotov had delegated the party invitations to Brock. Which he didn't really mind; he just kind of shoved it on some castle ghosts, anyway. Easy peasy.]

Delivered this morning to residents who are on good terms with Brock and/or Molotov. )

[With that out of the way, he's been at his cabin for most of the day, working on the fireplace and chimney. He's sort of given up on the pipe dream of a mason being among the castle residents, but whatever. Maybe he could get some kind of help if he was more broad about it?

He dictates into the journal.]

I have a couple projects if anybody's good with their hands or decent at heavy lifting. I'm building a fireplace and a greenhouse if anybody wants to help out with this stuff.

I can give you fake, magic money if you want. But I have beer, too.

[ooc. A note for invitations: if Molotov and/or Brock are at least vaguely aware of your character's existence and don't actively dislike them, they'll have gotten an invitation.]

Hellboy )

[And then, in big, bold letters scrawled in red ink:]

PARTY IN ROOM 1908, OPEN TO ALL

[In Hellboy's room, Mistress has gone all out with decorations. Streamers and balloons and nude contortionists and an ice sculpture that's pissing liquor. Yes, she was telling the truth when she said she could plan parties.]
