Last year, didn't someone come up with a list of all the things that have happened to us over the Halloween Holiday? I know not everyone is lucky enough to have an old journal, but even those of us that do -- it's not like they are easy to sort through to go back and find something specific.

Anyone want to try and help me compile a list? I figure with everything crazy the castle has been throwing at us lately - nightmares, body-part stealing cats, body morphing [she heard about the pony thing. It counts as a horror to some people.] - we might be better off if we're prepared or at least not all taken off guard.

I remember someone even put up a directory of classic monsters that showed up courtesy of the decorations. We don't have any decorations yet, but the castle can be slightly spontaneous.

[She's at home, at her kitchen table, thinking of things and she realizes that there's something else that might help.]

Also, if you've talked about Halloween in your own journal entry - let me know where it is and I'll be sure to make sure to figure out a way to mark them down on my entry for reference.

Back home I used to compile case files for sort of things, and yes I mean the kind of things that involve vampires, werewolves, and ghosts -- and I'm just wondering if that might be something we should all start doing here. Out of the journal, because I'm starting to wonder if we can even trust these things.

2 Years Prior - Dia de los Muertos : death masks for dead residents.
3 Years Prior - Decorations came to life. Vampires, Mummies, Werewolves, Ghosts - Giant Spider Attack

There was a monster invasion one year. Vampires, zombies, ghosts. A ... gigantic spider, I think. But that was a long time ago.

[a pause, he's trying to place things in his mind, and ... well, hi Jo. They haven't really talked since the nightmares, but this seems like a good time to break the silence, right?

[Definitely not. Nope, she thought she might be okay with hearing his voice, but it puts a halt to her thoughts completely. She's just glad this isn't face to face, because this means she can get up and go pour herself a drink first before writing her reply.]

How long ago is a long time ago?

[Sam can take cue. It sucks because he knows what it means, but he's got no reason to make her any more uncomfortable than she already is. There's the click of a pen before the response scribbles beneath hers.]

A couple years? I think it might have been my first Halloween in the castle.

I could have sworn we've had zombies at least twice. Two years ago was the Day of the Dead, though, when w--people had to wear the face paint mask things and the graveyard showed up.

[Oh... right. The masks.]

I remember the masks. I stayed at home for the most part during that. [Because... mask.]

Yeah. I don't think anything else happened that year on Halloween. Or if it did I don't remember it. [Cause yeah. Masks.]

Maybe someone else remembers.

day of the dead?

Yeah, it's a holiday based off the same one as Halloween - All Saint's Day, which is also called All Hallows Day. Halloween means "Hallow's Eve". Anyway, the Day of the Dead is when you're supposed to visit the gravesites of your loved ones and give them gifts of food or candy or alcohol that they liked when they were alive. Some people dress up with elaborate costumes and masks to represent the spirits of the dead.

It's actually kind of a cheerful holiday, believe it or not. [Unless you're one of the ones with a mask.]

There was that time they filled all the pipes with candy corn.

When was that? [She needs to take better notes than she has been.]

A couple of years ago. [He thinks. All he remembers is being pelted with candy when he was trying to take a shower.]

[Hellboy still feels awkward and depressed about everything that happened during that nightmare debacle, but throwing himself into work is usually his solution for that sort of thing. Since he can't get drunk.

Regardless, he's going to write this because it'll be easier. It's in his usual left-handed scrawl.]

Last year the castle ghosts turned into people without faces.

I remember hearing about that.

I'm not even sure anyone's ever really figured out what the ghosts here are. I avoid them best I can.

My best guess is extensions of the castle. You can't really interact with them. The castle is the same. They don't really seem to think. They only obey.

Ghosts where I'm from are people who refused to move on.
