Either I can't see tears anymore, or tears just don't exist here. With the reading I've done, it looks like it's likely... the former. It's probably my loss.

I used to be able to open tears, windows into other worlds. Enter them and take things from them, as well. I suppose it makes sense that this place wouldn't allow me to do that. Finding an exit would be all too easy.

[A sigh.]

I was hoping my second entry would be a happier one, for those of you that want to leave.

Yo, Gold here! I finally got my research done, which could have gone a lot faster if I had some help, but nooo.

[an accusing silence follows]

Anyway, turns out if you squat in a room and it gets taken, your stuff gets shoved in the hallway. So let me reiterate the ground rules and add on.

One. Bases can only be from floors two to seven. No towers, no stashing somewhere on the ground floor 'cause it'll probably be mistaken for junk and tossed out.

Two. You gotta decorate your base, but you can only use pillows, and maybe blankets if you wanna get complicated with. Like I said, your stuff gets thrown in the hallway if someone happens to move into that room.

Three. NO MOVING INTO A ROOM THAT'S GOT A SECRET BASE IN IT. That's just mean, yo. Ask before.

Four. If some square moves into your base and your stuff gets tossed in the hall, you get to call temporary immunity. No one can take your flags during that time.

Five. You gotta have several flags. You can make 'em out of whatever, decorate the crap out of them, I don't care. Just enough that it's unique.

Six. You can booby trap your base, but none of that Alone in the House crap that could seriously hurt someone. And no fire. We all like fire, but seriously guys, the entire base is flammable, why would you even do that.

Whoever can collect the most unique flags by the end of summer wins.. Er... Some trophy or whatever. I'm open to suggestions for a prize.

So! Who's still in? Who wants to jump on board? I'll take names to keep a tally and score.

[There's something a little off in Blues' voice when he's heard over the journal this afternoon. He almost sounds a little confused, but also kind of... Cheerful? That certainly was a little out of the ordinary for him.]

Alright Doctor Light, I know the lab wasn't exactly the nicest place around, but I don't think moving into a castle was really in the budget. How did you even get everything up here while I was offline? You know I'm more than capable of moving heavy things from one spot to another.
[There's a pause as he waits for a response, then the sound of heavy footsteps as he looks around before finally stopping at the journal.]

Huh, weird. Has anyone else here seen the Doc? Lab coat, bushy white beard, bit of a mullet?

[OOC: Loss start!]

[Here, have the sound of yawning... and then a GASP!]

Did my office just... change overnight? I knew Tom Nook's people were good, but not this good. Did I even have this on the schedule?

[!!!]

I hope the mayor doesn't think I am slacking off! It must have slipped my mind when--

[Wait.]

A book?

[.....]

Doesn't look like one I've seen before...

[residents may or may not be pleased to find that it appears someone has gone back to his old tried-and-true Monday Night At Ten PM routine. right on the dot, the old familiar song starts drifting out over the journals, there's the hiss of a soda can, and Hard Harry takes the air]

Hey, there, everybody, you still ain't rid of me yet. ... Let's take a short trip down memory lane, have a look at the past seven days, shall we? Looks like we got ourselves another slow week for newbies. Everybody say hi to Ohjiro and Isabelle, and my new close personal buddy, Ben. And don't tell me you're too busy to even just say hi, because I've heard the crickets out there.

Seems like now that everyone's recovered from gettin' chased by dinos - which my buddy Dairine did a nice handy report on - everybody's makin' their summer plans. I'm seeing everything from parties to obstacle courses... And of course, there was Saturday's gallery opening. There's still plenty of room on the giant chalkboard, if anyone feels like putting their mark out there! Pun only slightly intended.

Also, seeing a couple of the paintings actually reminded me of something. Couple years ago, for Christmas, I gave everyone in the castle their own radio, so they could tune in to these broadcasts the old-fashioned way instead of using their journals. We've seen so many people come and go that I figured it was time to ask if anyone else wants one.

I guess I could run my mouth, but honestly, right now it's so hot and humid and nasty out that all I wanna do is sit here with the fan on and spin some tunes. We'll start off with one for another good buddy of mine - and as always, I do take requests. Keep it cool, folks.

[and on goes the music...]
