[it's a while after Adachi discovered his new blank journal that he runs into another surprise: his Christmas present from the castle.

His just closed journal opens back up again as he falls back against his table, knocking it off]

H-How... What... How did you get here!?

[something actually replies back to him, and it sure doesn't sound human... or like any animal. In fact it is very screechy and just bizarre. But at least it sounds... happy?]

Scree!

No... no, no, no! You've gotta go back to where you came from, right now!

...screee?

Go! Oh geez if anyone finds you we are both so screwed.

[a brief silence. TIME TO GET MORE AGGRESSIVE.]

Go on! Get lost! Get the hell outta my sight!

[but then whatever-it-is just makes those screechy noises again. This time very distinctively UNHAPPILY, almost like crying. It also sounds like something just slithered away.]

No! Don't hide behind there! Crap... I'm sorry, I'm not rejecting you! Come on out? Be a good little-


(ooc: so because Adachi had literally nothing he could give a shit about back home, the castle gave him a tame, non-violent baby shadow as a pet. Basically he's got this.)

[cautiously opens the door. He looks relieved to see it's Fluttershy but he does look around to make sure no one else is around before letting her in]

Come in... The little guy's hiding right now. I think I upset him... [DADDY'S SORRY BABY RLY ; A;]

[She carefully walks in, looking around for whatever 'he' may be.]

What kind of animal is it?

Ah well... that's the thing. It's not really like a normal animal. In fact most people would... [mutters under his breath] call it a monster...

But he's small! And uh... black? [yes Adachi that's helpful]

That sounds really cute! Where is he?

Under the bed... I can't get him to come out. They all used to listen to me really well before but... well, they don't really like being yelled at. [or attacked. or rejected. or denied their right to exist.]

[She takes her time approaching the bed, lowering her head.]

Hello...? My name's Fluttershy... Can I come and see you?

[there's a pair of bright yellow eyes looking out at her from far under the bed. They blink a few times but don't move yet.

Adachi is watching carefully o_o]

[She settles on the floor, smiling gently.]

It's nice to meet you... I'd like to be your friend, if you don't mind. I know it's scary to be in a new place, but you'll like it in time. And you definitely don't need to be afraid of Adachi, he's very nice.

[it blinks a few more times, before slithering its way out from under the bed, revealing its black blobby form.

No one's ever talked to a shadow like that before. It doesn't know how to feel!

Adachi is really relieved though, but keeps himself from saying anything yet.]

... Ooh, you're so cute! I've never seen anything quite like you before! How wonderful!

[if Shadows could blush it probably would be doing so right now. Instead it just kind of slithers over to one of Fluttershy's hoofs and wrap around it.]

[She gives it a gentle pat on the head.]

He needs a name! Do you have any ideas, Adachi?

A name...? Er... no, not really. I've never thought about that before...

[he still looks unsure, but then the newly christianed Blacky slithers over to him, staring at him with those yellow eyes. He sighs to bend over and pick the little guy up]

Well, he's still gotta stay a secret. My hide is bacon if he's found by the wrong people. [maybe Kanji would hear him out but Yosuke... :T]

[the Shadow chirps curiously from Adachi's arms. Finally the man addresses him]

Yeah, yeah, you can stay now, okay?

[cue a lot of happy screeching as it wiggles out of Adachi's arms and starts flying around him all happily]

[She giggles a little as she watches him go.]
