Case #06. Wut.

[One day, nearly a fortnight ago, Miles Edgeworth disappeared from Cair Paradisa to seek temporary, reclusive solace at a hotel in the City Royale. He alerted no one of this little vacation, and ceased all communication with everyone - be it through the journals, or otherwise...

...but he's back - however unintentionally - and not in any way he could have ever foreseen. His clothes - remnants of a white undershirt and reddish-pink pajama-bottoms - are in scorched tatters. 

In one hand, there's a 4.5 ft. baguette. In the other, a machine gun...A gumball machine gun.

...and with that, he is chasing a massive growlithe around the castle grounds. 

Perhaps you're one of the unfortunate souls to witness this. After all, there is a perfectly rational explanation.

[Taken aback? Understatement. At this, his entire demeanor shifts to that ruthless, demoniacal person reminiscent of his days as the infamous 'Demon Prosecutor.' He shoots a steely glaze at Phoenix, several times colder than usual, and when he speaks, he practically snarls, teeth baring very slightly as his words drip with loathing. The 'demon' is, once again, resurfacing from the depths of Hell...]

You heard me.

[This is a Miles Edgeworth he's faced plenty of times in the past, and he's not nearly as bothered as he might be if, say, he wasn't boiling mad himself.]

The last time you vanished without warning, I went months thinking you'd killed yourself. This time, I was left wondering what the hell kind of scheme you'd come up with this time--or if you were even still here, or alive anywhere.

You've had your chance to run and hide. So just... suck it up and come back to the castle, where you at least have a room with your name on it.

I find it rather amusing that you think you have any sort of say in what I do with myself.

You know, at times like this, I find it ridiculous that I give a crap.

...[Raises a brow.]



...Thank you for reinforcing my decision to leave.



...[He waves a hand dismissively and starts off again.]

[takethat]

...whatever. Just go. I'm done chasing you. Go live in the city and be alone and brood forever with your fire-breathing dog.

[He turns away himself, fists still shaking, intent on marching back toward the castle. And getting another donut, since his was so thoroughly disrupted.]

[He halts, looks over his shoulder.]


...Jumping to conclusions. No thought before action. Even after all this, you haven't changed at all.

[He doesn't stop walking.

He doesn't say anything.

He just nonchalantly flips off Edgeworth.]

[...That last gesture spoke volumes, further solidifying his opinion on the matter, and one of the reasons he left in the first place.

But, surprisingly, it...kinda stung a little.

At this point, this train-wreck of a friendship all seemed unsalvageable and this sort of outcome inevitable and possibly... final. Edgeworth thought to himself, as he watched Phoenix walk away...

..."I suppose it's for the best, after all."]
