seventh dream - backdated to early afternoon

[spring has sprung, hooray! in celebration of all this lovely weather, Kermit is finally going to get to use the Christmas present that the castle so kindly granted to him --

-- so anyone between Cair Paradisa and anywhere in town is likely to see a somewhat strange sight, this afternoon: a frog on a yellow bicycle. he's got a nice picnic lunch tucked into the basket, along with his journal, and is humming idly to himself as he pedals]


Gee, what a nice day for a ride, hmmm... does anyone else here have a bicycle?

[Frog on yellow bicycle? Meet lawyer on blue bicycle, pedaling easily along, some distance from the castle. He spies Kermit in the distance and calls out to him as he's riding over and waving.]

Heyyyyy! Fellow bike rider!

[flailingfelt]

Nick! Hi! [Kermit slows his pedaling and pulls over a bit so that he can catch up]

[takethat]

[It maybe says something about Phoenix's state of mind that he doesn't find it all that peculiar to ride up alongside a frog on a bike. He grins.]

Are you headed somewhere, or just riding for the sake of riding?

[flailingfelt]

I was thinking of trying to find the candy store in town, so I could get something for my friends. [he smiles] Do you want to come with me?

[takethat]

Sure, that sounds great--and I could go for some candy myself.

[flailingfelt]

Okay! Do you know where it is? There was this brochure I found, for a place called the Candy Bonsai, but it didn't have a map...

[takethat]

W-well, no... I've never been to the city, before, actually. I was hoping you knew the way.

[flailingfelt]

That's okay. We can find it together! I saw a tourist booth the last time I was down here, so they probably have a map we can use. Come on, I remember how to get that far ...

[and he'll start pedaling again]

[takethat]

[Pedaling along with him]

So how often have you been to the city? I didn't even know about it for a while, myself!

[flailingfelt]

I've only been once, and Molotov carried me, since it was before all the snow melted. There are a lot of great little shops and things, though, Nick. There's even a theater! ... Not like the one at home, though ...

[takethat]

Oh? What was your theater back home like?

[flailingfelt]

Oh, it was one of those old-fashioned ones with the balconies way up high, and sculptures all around the stage and in the ceilings, and big red velvet curtains, Nick. Very fancy. Just old, and a little bit broken in a few spots, but we kept it looking nice.

[takethat]

Wow, that sounds incredible.

[He's just picturing it...]

Old buildings are the best, I think. They have so much more character that way. Every crack tells a story, right?

[flailingfelt]

[he chuckles quietly as they crest the hill leading to the fountain] If that's the case, then the Muppet Theatre might as well be a library.

[takethat]

[He, too, laughs at that.]

Yeah, I think my office is on its way to that status, too.

[flailingfelt]

Really? I thought lawyers made a lot of money...

[takethat]

Er... yeah, well, some lawyers make a ton of money, like my friend Edgeworth. But I... well, a lot of people didn't pay for my services, back home. And I didn't make too big of a deal of it, either.

[flailingfelt]

Oh! Well, I think that's even better than making a lot of money, honestly. Being a good person is more important.

[takethat]

Well, thank you. I appreciate that, because a lot of people just pick on me for it.

[modernholmes]

[Conan is out today as well. He'd decided to take advantage of the nice weather by testing the operation of his motorized skateboard. He comes zipping along from behind Kermit at a rather alarming speed.]

[flailingfelt]

[Kermit's so engrossed in the nice scenery and the fresh spring air that he doesn't notice.... is Conan able to swerve around him, or will one or both riders end up in the ditch?! dun dun dun...]

[modernholmes]

[He swerves all right. Conan throws his weight to one side of the board and sends it skidding in an acrobatic dodge around the frog on the bike.]

[flailingfelt]

[this takes Kermit completely by surprise, however, and he overcompensates on his own dodge, falling off the bike and landing in the ditch with a yelp]

HEY, what the hey --

[and then he recognizes him]

Conan?!

[modernholmes]

[Conan skids to a halt and jumps off the back of his skateboard. He hurries over to the ditch.]

Are you okay?

[flailingfelt]

Hmm? -- Oh. Oh, yeah, I'm fine ... kind of durable, frogs.

[he picks himself up and dusts himself off] You were going really fast, though. Where're you going that you're in such a hurry?

[modernholmes]

Nowhere.

[flailingfelt]

[this face, Conan. you're just getting THIS face as he picks his bike up and rights it on the road]

This is practice.

[You know, for the next time he got involved in a car chase.]

Well, they're handy to have in nice weather! You can get around outside a lot faster.

What's a bicycle?

[flailingfelt]

Oh, hi, Spike! A bicycle is something people use to get around outside. It's got two wheels, and you sit on it and pedal to move the wheels. So it's good exercise, too.

[huffythedragon]

Oh, wow, I've never heard of anything like that. [Because you know, almost everything moves on four legs and all] It sounds pretty cool!

[flailingfelt]

I'd guess they wouldn't really have bikes in Equestria, huh ... what with all the ponies having four legs ... or wings ...

You could probably learn to ride a bike, though!

[huffythedragon]

You really think so? I'd like that!

[flailingfelt]

Yeah, absolutely! You'd need a helmet and some pads so you wouldn't get hurt while you're learning, but those can get wished up, too. I'd be happy to teach you.

[huffythedragon]

Oh, trust me, I don't need those. Dragons are pretty durable. [SWIM IN LAVAAAAAA]

[flailingfelt]

[he doesn't question this. Muppets are pretty durable, too, after all.] Oh. Well, okay! If you want to see if you can wish for a bike, I can meet you up at the front doors....

[huffythedragon]

I'll be right there!!! [So wishing one up now, yep]

[flailingfelt]

It'll take me a minute to pedal back up - it's kind of a steep hill - but I'll meet you there, Spike!

[OH YES HE WILL.]

[huffythedragon]

Okay Kermit, see you in a mo!

[flailingfelt]

[and soon enough, there he is, pedaling up over the crest of the hill, waving] Hi, Spike!

[huffythedragon]

[Spike struggles with his own bike because, lol, how do you work them]

Hi Kermit!

[flailingfelt]

[he coasts his own to a stop, then nudges the kickstand down with one flipper and dismounts] I like the bike the castle gave you! It looks just right for you.

[huffythedragon]

I guess it does know just what you want sometimes.
