You came all the way out here just to talk... [He is surprised, but also a bit guilty, and that's easy enough to see.

He turns aside, eyes wandering back to the night sky.] Well... That lobster thing bit Colette a couple days ago. Everyone else seems to be waking up, but Colette's still the same. The clinic people say I have to wait for her to get better, you know? But there was a time when waiting wouldn't help at all. She wasn't asleep, but she wasn't really there, either...

I promised her that I'd bring her home. Maybe that's a big promise, but I meant it. And I can't-- I can't bring her home if she's like this.

... That's all, I guess.

It's not far at all - especially not for a friend. [but after that remark he'll shut his mouth and listen, frowning thoughtfully]

... Wait. What do you mean, she wasn't asleep, but she wasn't there?

[Lloyd touches the blue jewel set on the back of his palm, something he does when he's bothered...]

Do you know what a Cruxis Crystal is?

[he remembers the tic, yes, but...] I'm afraid Raine and Yuan only ever mentioned them in passing. Would you be so kind as to enlighten me?

They're the same as Exspheres, but even worse... if that's possible. Exspheres run on the power of someone's soul-- someone's suffering. [His voice lowers a notch.] Cruxis Crystals feed on the soul of the person wearing them.

Colette was made into an angel. She had to go through a slow, tortuous process that made her lose her humanity. She couldn't sleep or eat or feel anything, and then she lost her voice... and finally, she lost her heart. Colette was gone, but her body moved by itself. It took forever for us to fix her Cruxis Crystal so that she would be herself again.

That's... what I meant.

[now, that's something terrible he hadn't banked on learning tonight] Oh, no. ... I suppose you've already tried the same process on her Crystal to try and wake her?

Yeah. When she started getting sick, I thought maybe it was the Key Crest, but it's... not. Not even Martel can heal it, and she's the best healer I know.

Colette will wake up. She has to.
