[Carson is sat in the lobby of the castle, tapping his pen lightly against his leg as he stares off to a distance before starting to scribble in some filters.

Those that have seen Carson's notebook have probably noticed that the handwriting is pretty messy. This isn't the case this time. Seems the good doctor has decent penmanship when not frantically translating dead languages.]

You probably don't know me, but my name is Dr. Carson Beckett. I've been in charge of making sure that Rue heals up well. I'm preparing to take the stitches out in the next couple of days, but I'll need someone to keep an eye on her, make sure the wound doesn't open back up. It'll just be for a few days.

I'm asking Dr. Jackson to see if he can go over my notes from the previous incident. I know I gave you a rough translation as I went, but I'd like to make sure this is documented in case it ever happens again. You'll be the first to get a copy.

I'd also like to ask if it's okay to take a little holiday. Once I've removed Rue's stitches, I'd like to go out into the City Royale for a couple of weeks. I'll still come back if there's a major emergency, so just let me know if that's okay.

[Carson takes a break at writing those filters, sighing and leaning back in the sofa to rest his hand.]

I've got to bloody say. This castle takes it out of you at times...

No problem. [ He flashes him a quick smile. ] I don't mind doing it, gotta keep those skills up to scratch somehow.

So, how are you settling in?

Hmm? [ A beat. ] Oh, fairly well. It's not like this is my first time stranded on a strange planet.

...Or in another dimension, if I recall right.

Still, we've got you, Col. Carter and Gen. O'Neill. If anyone can find their ways out of here, it's you guys.

[linguistical]

That too. [ Funny how that sort of thing has become something of the norm for him. ]

We're working on it. Believe me. Jack isn't the type to sit on his hands for too long.

Of course. [ A smile. ] Project? What sort of project, if you don't mind me asking.

Well, before I left for Atlantis, I began research into if it was possible to give the ATA gene via an artificial gene therapy to people who don't have it. I've only really found time to complete my research whilst I'm here.

And I think I'm getting close. Provided the castle doesn't interrupt any more.

[This, of course, may contradict what Daniel already knows. :|]

[ May? By the look of confusion on his face it definitely contradicts what Daniel knows. ]

No... you've already completed the therapy. You managed to finish it no longer after you got to Atlantis.

[He cuts himself off as a look of realisation comes across his face.]

It's my loss. I can't remember completing my gene therapy. Which always didn't make sense, but...

[He had no reason to distrust Daniel.]

... Did you hear anything else about my work?

Well... You worked on a retrovirus that was to suppress the Iratus bug DNA in Wraiths.

[ He's assuming Carson is asking for the bigger things, not the day to day saving lives and all that jazz which goes with general Stargate life. Whether it be on Earth or Atlantis. ]

[Carson looks away. It all made sense now! Carson looks back to Daniel.]

I can't remember any of that. I always.... Always thought it strange that I was in Atlantis for three years and never accomplished anything, but...

[ He feels bad for him. Forgetting all the things he did on Atlantis, or at least the bigger things. ]

I suppose it is better to know you did something with your life and not remember it than thing you didn't do anything at all.

Still, now that I know I've done it before, I'll be able to finish working on it.

Why? [ A beat. ] Sorry, I can't really understand why you'd try to finish it a second time, here of all places. Other than just something to focus on. It's not really going to be much help to these people.

[A smile.] It's mostly that. I need something to focus on, and, well, this is all I'm really good at.

I see it as a good sign. It means no-one's getting hurt.

[linguistical]

Huh. [ A beat. ] I guess that works.

I'd imagine you'd have no trouble keeping yourself busy, Dr. Jackson. From what I've read, Paradisa has a very interesting history.
