I should have done this a while ago, huh... But New Year’s resolutions are important and I’ll stick to them this time!

URU’S NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS!

1. Gain a few pounds. I lost some weight while we were in Paris. Probably from all the work and running around I did. I don’t really like gaining weight either but I don’t want to be too skinny...
2. Exercise more, though!
4. Challenge myself with something new.
5. Expedition! Not missing this!
6. Most important: learn from my mistakes and the mistakes of my friends. [ A pause. ]

The past year was a bumpy ride, huh? A lot of things were said or done that nobody meant. Even I said a lot of – [ Another pause, then a deep sigh. ] I’m going to work even harder this year. I mean it this time. So the next time someone leaves, nobody will have to see them with a sad face before they go. We’ll all remember them smiling. I’m sure if I can do just that alone, it’ll be enough for me.

[ Laughing to herself. ]

I still have a long way to go before some of this! I should talk to him soon and... I’m not sure I can get his forgiveness but whatever his answer is going to be, I’ll feel better knowing. But I hope he won’t yell. Or pull my ears.

I’m sorry this is so late! But thank you all for the gifts you sent during the holidays. I really liked them all! I hope my gifts were okay!

Can I ask you all something, though? [ sheepishly: ] If you wanted to get one of your guy friends a gift, what would you get them? I ran out of ideas already. I know it’s also really late to give him something, but I still want to! It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t.

[ OH MY GOD HOW DOES SHE START THIS OFF. ]

[ And in today’s news, with her chin in a hand and journal in her lap, one might find Uru in the laundry room of the castle. She’s sitting on top of one of the unused machines while the one beside it is running a cycle with her clothes inside. She’s also got goggles hanging around her neck, and for anyone who might see them and knew her, will recognize these as Serenity’s. The machinery’s soft whirring noises can be heard over the journals as she opens up her new one (it’s bizarre to have an almost totally blank one) to talk into it. ]

Friday was so creepy! Does anyone know why it happened? Geez, because the sun didn’t come up I nearly got late for opening. I thought that kind of stuff only happened in the Arctic. [ OH GOSH, SUDDEN REVELATION?! ] Does this mean Paradisa’s all the way north?

I heard people talking about other weird things happening but... did it happen to everyone? [ Suddenly she sound sheepish and kinda uncertain. ] Well, at work I fell off the ladder but someone caught me below! Lucky, huh? But my head’s hard so it wouldn’t have hurt too much. [ ... ] Is this going to happen again in April?

[Who hadn't he ran into yet? She sounds familiar, that much he's sure of, but who?]

News travels fast around here. [Or not so fast at all, re- Oh! He's remembered her. There were only a few people who would tell her and Damian had mentioned they were friends again.] Uru.

[ She feels as if something odd just happened but lets it slide. He could just be readjusting to being in the castle again. And then there were probably fake memories. ]

Steph told me. Welcome back!

Wish I could say that I'm glad to be here, but uh [he chuckles lightly] you know how it is.

[amiable]

I understand! [ But most of his family is here, so he has it better than a lot of people. :( ] Are you settling in okay? Um... again, I guess.

[Right now he's happy to stay around for Damian, but if Damian weren't here? Chances are he'd be out looking for Roy and the other First Gens. To hell with the castle.]

About as well as can be expected, I guess.

[And shifting the topic of conversation from himself as ever.]

What about you, Uru? How have you been?

[ A pause, but honestly it's been a pretty good month or two. With some of her closest friends back and with their memories intact, things have been awesome.

Now to see where she stands with Dick. Her stomach has butterflies ffff. ]

I've been well, thank you. It's nice when it gets quiet around here.

[knightprodigy]

[Fondly;] Here's to long silences, then.

[He's always liked Uru, she has nothing to worry about. Crazy kid fff]

Yeah! Hopefully the castle isn't up to something bad this time...

You mean opposed to those times when the castle is up to something good, huh?

[amiable]

[ pause. ]

Mm! The castle's done a lot of nice things in the past few months.

[knightprodigy]

First I'm hearing about it. [Go on, he's curious.]

[amiable]

Really? [ what. ] Well, Paris was one for sure! And in October, the castle celebrated an Indian holiday. It gave us all these beautiful clothes and delicious sweets...

[ She trails off. ]

... We also got to see some of our friends' homes in earlier fall. [ Guess what she saw? ] It was sort of like a dream, but it looked real to me.

[Okay, so the Indian festival thing sounded like a good time, but the rest of it... Paris was like waking up from a bad dream only to find out that you're still in it. And he can't imagine wanting to go to his friend's homes if they weren't there, and if they were there, then that was in some way worse. Like torture.

But Uru seems in such good spirits, it'd be a shame to spoil them, and despite himself, Dick finds himself smiling at her cheer, infectious as her enthusiasm always is.]

[ She's a little cautious, because someone might be reading this and she doesn't want to give away anyone's secrets soooooooo... ]

I saw your house! I think it was a house. It was way too fancy to be a regular house.

[Ohey a filter, that can only mean- yup, and there it is. Dick's frowning.]

The manor? [Why would Uru have gone to the manor? Damian had never really lived there, although it probably would be the one place that they all do call home, whether they've lived there a long time or not.]

I think it's a tower. Wayne... Tower?

Oh! The- yeah. That's where Damian and I live.

I've never seen a large home like that before!

[knightprodigy]

[He laughs.]

Yeah, I guess it is a little big for three people. [Sometimes four, if Tim decided to stay over. Or sometimes it was just himself and Damian, Alfred gone back to tend the manor.]

[ It also didn't feel much like a home to her, remembering the lack of photos around. But she won't mention that. ]

Maybe, but it was nice to see.

Are you busy with something right now?

[It tended not to feel like home either. He had tried, though. Painting his room and such, and there were only ever a handful of pictures he put up anywhere he went. The one that Tim's parents had taken that last night at the circus of Dick and his parents, with little Timmy sat on his knee; that one polaroid of him and Jason looking like brothers; another of that one time he and Bruce had gone fishing together, back when Ace was with them; the one of the original five teen titans; and finally, one taken when he and Babs had gone on holiday together - not that he currently remembers that last one.]

I wasn't sure if you were with Damian, Jason, or Tim... [ But if he's not... ] Would it be alright if I came over for a bit?
