I should have done this a while ago, huh... But New Year’s resolutions are important and I’ll stick to them this time!

URU’S NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS!

1. Gain a few pounds. I lost some weight while we were in Paris. Probably from all the work and running around I did. I don’t really like gaining weight either but I don’t want to be too skinny...
2. Exercise more, though!
4. Challenge myself with something new.
5. Expedition! Not missing this!
6. Most important: learn from my mistakes and the mistakes of my friends. [ A pause. ]

The past year was a bumpy ride, huh? A lot of things were said or done that nobody meant. Even I said a lot of – [ Another pause, then a deep sigh. ] I’m going to work even harder this year. I mean it this time. So the next time someone leaves, nobody will have to see them with a sad face before they go. We’ll all remember them smiling. I’m sure if I can do just that alone, it’ll be enough for me.

[ Laughing to herself. ]

I still have a long way to go before some of this! I should talk to him soon and... I’m not sure I can get his forgiveness but whatever his answer is going to be, I’ll feel better knowing. But I hope he won’t yell. Or pull my ears.

I’m sorry this is so late! But thank you all for the gifts you sent during the holidays. I really liked them all! I hope my gifts were okay!

Can I ask you all something, though? [ sheepishly: ] If you wanted to get one of your guy friends a gift, what would you get them? I ran out of ideas already. I know it’s also really late to give him something, but I still want to! It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t.

[ OH MY GOD HOW DOES SHE START THIS OFF. ]

[ And in today’s news, with her chin in a hand and journal in her lap, one might find Uru in the laundry room of the castle. She’s sitting on top of one of the unused machines while the one beside it is running a cycle with her clothes inside. She’s also got goggles hanging around her neck, and for anyone who might see them and knew her, will recognize these as Serenity’s. The machinery’s soft whirring noises can be heard over the journals as she opens up her new one (it’s bizarre to have an almost totally blank one) to talk into it. ]

Friday was so creepy! Does anyone know why it happened? Geez, because the sun didn’t come up I nearly got late for opening. I thought that kind of stuff only happened in the Arctic. [ OH GOSH, SUDDEN REVELATION?! ] Does this mean Paradisa’s all the way north?

I heard people talking about other weird things happening but... did it happen to everyone? [ Suddenly she sound sheepish and kinda uncertain. ] Well, at work I fell off the ladder but someone caught me below! Lucky, huh? But my head’s hard so it wouldn’t have hurt too much. [ ... ] Is this going to happen again in April?

Um-- well. I'm not entirely sure about that, to be honest! She is a good cook, but neither of us learned much about it growing up.

Really? Do you have other people to cook for you?

People learned a long time ago to kick me right out of the kitchen if they saw me in it. Cain could tell you about several cases of food poisoning before he learned his lesson. Melodramatically. For ages.

--But Lilith really is a good cook! I'm lucky, on that front. [and countless others when it comes to her. *^*]

I think sometimes we just aren't built for that kind of thing, Uru... We know to leave it in much more capable hands!

Nope! That's why I did all the cooking when I lived with her. I've been making rice since I was about five! But that's okay, because I learned how to be independent from it, too. Mom would be at work, so I had to be the head of the home when she wasn't around.

You're so responsible, you know that? I'm a grown man and you were already doing better than me when you were five.

I'm sure that's not true... but thank you! [ Said after a pause, since Galadriel told her she gets weird when people praise her and she wants to change that. ]

[HAHAHA she's so cute. he's trying not to spoil it by chuckling...]

Oh, no! It's absolutely true, Uru! You're admirably good at taking care of yourself...!

[ Abel. :( She can't remember the last time someone said she was good at taking care of herself. ]

That makes me happy. I don't want to do a bad job at it.

I'm a little jealous, even! It's impressive, especially being young, you know. Not many people could live on their own at your age, even if they wanted to!

You think so? But I'm not that young.

[bloodsugar]

In the grand scheme of things... you aren't even close to a forth of the way done with your life! You're very young.

--And that's not a bad thing at all! If you're doing so well by yourself already, just think about what's ahead of you, hm?

[amiable]

[ She laughs. ]

Yeah! I think I do well here, despite what can happen. In a way, Paradisa has taught me a lot in only two years!

Mm... that's one of the best things about being here. You learn a lot, don't you? Learn about worlds, and places, and people, and... everything!

And if you're here long enough, you learn more about yourself, too.

Well, no fairy tale castle is complete without things that go bump in the night, right? It gives our knights a chance to be valiant from time to time!

And sometimes the princesses, too! [ She means badass women but oops fantasies. ]

Sometimes the princesses save the knights around here, eh?

A knight can't be a knight if he has no princess!

Wouldn't that be a sad tale? The knight forever lonely and wandering in search of his long lost princess...

But it does sound a little romantic...
