[As usual, Dr. Carson Beckett is in the clinic. He hardly ever leaves the place apart from when he's sleeping.

...And even then, he just catches a few hours at his desk. Which is where he's sitting right now. He has his journal open, before throwing down a filter]

I'm in the clinic and ready if you want to pop in for that check-up, I'll be here all day.

Are your wounds healing up? Nothing else cropped up?

Have you noticed if Agent Maine is hiding any worsening of his injuries?

How're you feeling?

---

[Filters done, he settles back and speaks unfiltered.]

Does anyone want first aid training? Any medical questions answered? Anything at all? Just a wee bit bored. Don't get me wrong. Me being bored is a good sign.

Feel free to come talk to me in person, or over the journals.

[He motions to a bed]

[He takes a seat, hoping that glowy thing won't get jammed anywhere uncomfortable.

Physically, he's in very good condition - there are traces of some old scars, noticeably around his left eye, but other than that he's in almost too good shape for someone who complains about training as much as he does. The only really noticeable unusual part is his neural implant, near the back of his skull and currently inserted with an actively glowing AI chip.]

[Nothing doing. He doesn't want to ruin his new scanner!

Carson is making notes in his notebook, in a language that looks like this.]

Well, good news. You're in perfect health.

[York squints a little, but that's some weird handwriting, man.]

Even after all that buttery shit in Paris? Nice.

[Carson begins to write the English translation.]

Aye. Nifty little device. Does the work of an X-Ray, CAT Scanner... You name it.

Obviously, it can't heal the stuff it finds...

Still, that's a hell of a useful tool. The more time you can cut out of diagnostics, the quicker you can get to treating it.

But, you seem to be in peak health, physically.

Nice. I still haven't found mine, yet, assuming the castle even gave me anything.

And good. It's too easy to fall out of schedule here, with nobody breathing down your neck all the time.

I've heard there's someone else from your world here. [You get the feeling he's distracting the point from something.]

I guess that's good. Might have someone to train with.

There's a couple of us, actually. Besides, my world's Earth, just from a future timeline.

[He chuckles.] If you want to set up a training schedule, I'd talk to Agent Carolina. She's my boss.

Only if you think you need one. But, as your doctor, I wouldn't recommend it.

I think she'd deck me if I didn't, really. Someone has to prepare for the next time zombies attack, and it might as well be those of us who actually have training in the first place.

[He tilts his head to the side.]

Any reason you wouldn't recommend it?

Because you seem a wee bit too fit if you ask me.

Need to save some of the action for other people.

[York raises an eyebrow.]

If my doctor's recommending I sit on my couch adn eat pizza all day, I'm not going to complain.

I wouldn't go saying that to Carolina, or I'll be the next for the obstacle course.

Course not! I do have some sense of self-preservation, you know.

You and me, both. Though I don't think I'll be in too much danger from Carolina.

[He does have a wee bit of leverage]

Oh, I have leverage with her. I'm just also fully aware she can kick my ass.

[Carson finishes translating his notes, smiling]

Well, either way, being a plush toy affected you in no way whatsoever, though I shudder to think what would have happened if an arm got torn off.

Yeah, no. Lesson number one: make sure you have friends who won't let you be used as a chew toy.

That's the way the castle works, though. Some days you're the Rottweiler, and some days you're the chew toy.
