Got it in one. ... Though I'm quite annoyed at having lost nearly three years' worth of information and research. I do hope there's some way of getting it all back...

No, no. Hardly. ... I mean ... Whenever something new and odd cropped up, I liked to look through the journal to see if anything similar had happened, or something could have foretold it in some way or other. Hindsight is clear for a reason, after all - sometimes it gives clues to the future.
