Hunt 004 ~ [Action/Dictated]

[Hello, Paradisa. Daryl's lazy, relaxed, southern drawl comes out over the journals.]

So, anyone here like huntin'? There's prob'ly a bit of fair game out in the woods. I reckon I got a decent map o' the area.

[He's not too comfortable on wishing up food. Besides, old habits died hard.]

...Could maybe do with some company, s'long as y'don't scare the prey away.

[Daryl then sets his journal to one side on the couch in the lobby. The sounds of him tinkering with his crossbow will filter through.]

[Snort] Bring back another rabbit, I want you to make that stew again.

[Domestic much? Sorry, he totally doesn't mean it to sound like that.

A pause.]

I'd offer to come along, but after the last time Carl and I went hunting I'm not sure I'm ready to take him out just yet.

Ain't nothin' here that's gonna hurt 'im.

[A pause.]

Fine. I'll get us some rabbit.

...will you take me with you, Daryl?

[Because Carl doesn't have a fear of hunting even having been shot in a hunting accident!

And Daryl is cool. And hunting is cool. He wants in on this, if his Dad will let him anyway.]

Not today, Carl.

[He's not just ready to let you do that yet kid. You just got here, not to mention the fact you just got over the last hunting accident. And your Dad is still a bit upset over the whole...Farm being overrun and yeah.. not just yet.]

I don't mind if you explore, bud, but.. stay in the Castle okay?

[Carl is pouting, definitely, but he thinks he understands why. Maybe. He wants to understand it at least. So have a question.

Even if Dad doesn't budge though, at least he got permission to explore? Carl can appreciate that much.]

Is it cause of when I got shot? I promise I'll stay out of the way, Dad.

[Don't pout, Carl. At least he cares enough to give you some limitations. ~~Unlike your mother, cough~~.]

Partly, yes. Partly, 'cause of every thing else. Y'jus' got here, I don't want t'lose track of you just yet. Give me a little bit, okay?

Ok.

[Carl feels a little bit bad now for even asking, and a little bit annoyed that his Dad still said no, but he won't be a jerk about it. Considering that whole...everything else.]

I'm bord and I'm going to go explore then ok?

Y'should let the kid come with, Officer Protective. I'll keep an eye on him.

[You trust Daryl, right?]

its ok I can come next time. dad is just worried and I think he needs a break from worrying.

He's gonna kill himself if he doesn't calm the fuck down.

thats why I didnt fight about it he has enough stuff to handle right? next time I do want to come though. I know you wont shoot me again.

[Not that he means Daryl shot him...just that he was shot once. Silly kid grammar.]

I haven't shot ya once.

Next time, he only just got here.

[He does trust you, damn it. He's at least better at keeping the kids safe than his mother.]

[Not antagonistic, just dismissive.]

Do you mean to hunt for deer?

Deer, rabbit, squirrel. Anythin' that can be stewed up, barbequed or grilled.

May I come with you?

[He takes a moment to consider this]

Sure. Why not? I'm in the lobby.

I will be there soon.

[ She chuckles, and hurries down in her full regalia!

Arriving by the lobby, she walks slowly to the center of the room to spot someone with a bow and arrow because, well, she doesn't know what a gun is. ]

[And considering that Daryl is tinkering about with a crossbow, it should be pretty obvious who it is.

He doesn't even look up yet, working on making sure the string is tightened.]

[ That resembles a bow, so she approaches cautiously. ]

Hello. Are you the hunter?

[Daryl looks up, studying Lucrezia for a moment.]

Yeah, that's me.

[Same lazy drawl as over the journal. He doesn't look like much of a hunter at a first glance, the way he's sprawled over the couch. He does look pretty lazy.]

[ And there she is in her full renaissance garb with a net of pearls on her head and embroidered slippers on her feet, yes. All ready to hunt. She curtsies. ]

I am Lucrezia Borgia. My husband likes to hunt as well, for deer.

[Eyebrow perk at that curtsie. Never had no-one do that to him before.]

Y'sure ya dressed for huntin'?

[ She isn't sure how to answer that, this is dressing for all occasions ever. ]

Should I wear a coat?

That'd be a start.

[He examines her again.]

Better shoes wouldn't be a bad idea, princess. Don't want ya breakin' ya ankle on a tree root.

[ Here's wishing for a sweeping coat that appears out of thin air and falls onto her arms. ] Riding shoes?

And call me Lucrezia, I am no princess. [ Correcting him because, yes. ] What is your name?

[He merely shrugs at that correction.]

We ain't gonna be doin' no ridin'.

...Name's Daryl.

We will be walking? [ Incredulous, but she wishes for a pair of riding shoes anyway. ]

Daryl. It is a pleasure surely.

'course we will. [He states this as if it should be obvious.] Don't want t'scare the game away.

[He doesn't respond to the fact that it may, or may not, be a pleasure to meet him. He's not a man of many words.

Instead, he picks up his crossbow and slings it over a shoulder.]

Let's go.

[ Hunters, she concludes, are men of few words, like her husband. She slips into her new shoes and leaves the old ones behind, because the castle will take care of them. ]

I shall be as quiet as a mouse.

[Daryl pauses to do up the lace on one of his boots before starting to head towards the door.]

Good.

[ She links her hands behind her back as she trails closely behind. ]

Why do you hunt when the castle grants all wishes?

Don't trust it.

[He holds the door open for Lucrezia. He's at least a gentleman in that regard.]

Magic castle givin' ya everythin' ya want? Nah, somethin' fucked up's goin' on here.

((OOC: Also, he's Murphy MacManus' identical twin. Just so you know. :D))

[ She rewards him with a bright smile for that gesture. ]

Is it so terrible to be provided for?

[ ooc; yes! I wasn't sure if you wanted people to notice the similarity or not ;) ]

I don't trust it.

You do not trust a castle that provides you with food and lodgings and everything you could wish for?

[ She comes closer to walk beside him, watching him quietly. ]

Are you triplets?

Nope.

[He shifts a bit, uncomfortable with someone watching that closely.]

...What're ya talkin' 'bout?

[ They don't teach her about personal space in her family, nope. ]

Come now, I have spoken to Connor and Murphy.

[For god's sake... A sigh here.]

We ain't related.

[ Giving him an incredulous look. ]

A coincidence then. I hope you will pardon my presumption.

[A grunt in response. You'll find that Daryl isn't the most eloquent of people to talk to.]

I could stand to get to know the terrain.

I ain't no tour guide. I'm goin' out there to hunt. Y'can tag along if y'want.

[he snorts] I wasn't asking you to hold my hand or anything. I just don't wanna get lost.

Good. Y'won't if ya followin' me.

...You ever hunted before?

Only every day, back home. To survive. Where am I meeting you?
