Ah, the life of a single parent! I do not suppose there are many ladies out there who would find an unwed father particularly appealing. No, no, I'll have to hang up my hat on midnight fun soon enough. But these are the choices we make, are they not? [He's not sure he really chose to go on a Pokemon adventure, but why split hairs?]
I must say she was much easier to keep an eye on as a human - even visually impaired! Haha.
It seems I can't even educate my new little ward - not in book smarts, at the very least. Thankfully I was never one for rigorous study.
[For those more inclined to encounter Yuuya in person (or birdson), he is doing his very best to sunbathe luxuriously with his new Budew on the castle grounds.
Lucky the Pokemon is so small and also not really mobile - anything larger would be running circles around Yuuya. Nevertheless, if natures were easily transferable, this Budew would be Naughty. Every time it gets up to go exploring, Yuuya leaves his sunbath to track it down, herding it back with a buffet of his wings.
As he ruffles himself out for another attempt at leisure and glorious sunshine, Yuuya closes his eyes and calls to the open book:]
But it's nearly beach reading season! Whatever shall I do?
Until next time, mes amis. Safe reading.
Adieu!
((ooc: sorry to anyone who had to wait on tags from birdbrain for several days. we should be sorted now!))

[Maybe he can do this better than he did with Uru...]
There are not nearly so many humans anymore, and there has been some bad blood ... But I believe that coexistence is possible. [Would have been possible...]

Oh? What happened to them?

War and disease, which I wager will get us all in the end, if I'm frank.
That same virus which uplifted birdkind was meant to kill us instead.

They purposely introduced this malady?

I believe wholeheartedly it was only for self-preservation though without it I would not be speaking with you today, yet sometimes science is unpredictable, hm?

[and it's not even genocide. It's like an entire clade. Do humans really do this?]
I can see why there would be resentment amongst the human, but why did they release the disease in the first place?

[Pause.]
It was done to curb the spread of avian disease to humans.

Eartwitch.] I see. A drastic measure, but perhaps a reasonable one for the short-lived. [and short-sighted]
Populations rise and fall, but unless 'tis something truly catastrophic, they will almost always return.

I do hope so. But it can be hard to swallow, for some folk, the thought of more than one intelligent species.
[And so, wars.]
