[ She mulled over this for a while during that Pokemon world. Jenny intrigued her on various levels and she certainly didn't mind her company when they had run into each other. It was nice a breath of fresh air to be able to talk to another woman about the castle's mysteries and the residents without passing off as too nosy. Of course, Jenny could just be feigning ignorance of Kate's perceptiveness.

Either way, Brock and Molotov's wedding invite said bringing a plus one was fine. There was no way she was going to ask Renee; too many uneasy feelings made her feel on edge.

After a long pause, she dictates: ]

Got any plans on the twenty-ninth?

I wonder if filmmakers would kill for whatever it was that happened with the library a while ago. Who needs 3D when you can experience your favorite story with all five senses? Then again, it would have been much preferred had the history book I borrowed not stuck me in a corset.

My first summer here, we all got taken into this medieval-like world. There were powerful demons there, as I recall. Attacked us and the poor natives of that world.

But the demons did something to some of the residents. [ She still wrestles with this from time to time. Tobias said it was his choice. ]

I can't remember having a good night's sleep during that week.

I don't know the exact details, but a few residents were either forced or willingly accepted turning into monsters themselves.

I'm assuming they've reverted back to normal?

It was a long time ago. [ So yes. ] One of them was just a kid.

Not one of the magical, yearly children, I hope.

A lot of us wish kids weren't brought here.

It'd have to be some sort of heartless monster that was glad they were here.

[ She feels annoyed again, thinking of that conversation she had with Neal. ]

You would be surprised to hear some think a cosmic kidnapping isn't the worst that can happen to them.

It's got to be in the top ten at the very least.

[ A long pause. ]

The residents who turned into... demons, or whatever they were, they had to sacrifice a friend in order to do so.

[Here's a pause too.]

Well, I hope they got their heads kicked in for that.

Think they did enough of that themselves.

Not really, but for Tobias it was.

[ A pause as she realizes she's mentioned him now. She can't think of the last time she talked about Tobias with anyone who wasn't Charlie. ]

[ The one who turned into a demon. ]

... ah.

Suppose it's difficult to want righteous justice when it's a kid, isn't it.

He knew what he did was wrong. He changed, though. [ And gave her some hope that change is possible for those who try. ] I'm glad he's not here anymore, honestly. This is no place for kids.
