31st Death

[hope you don't mind some math problems appearing in your journal. it seems someone is writing them down.]

4 - 9 = 5

12 x 3 =

5 + 5 = 10

14 x 6 =

2 x 9 = 11

[there's a pause when Dextera realizes that he is writing in the journal before he scribbles out a note.]

I don't understand some of these. Is it okay if someone helped me?

❀ I can help! What is it that you don't understand about them? ❀

[Which is like his super nice way of saying, "Wow, how come you don't know how to do simple math?"]

[Sadly he's not surprise of someone struggling with simple Math. He's used to Lloyd]

What do you need help with?
petitfours: (gonna soak up the sun)

❀ The "x" means to multiply, silly! Not add! ❀

[Because not knowing the symbols is definitely the only problem here, Hunny]
petitfours: (woooooooaaaaahhh)

[personal profile] petitfours 2012-04-26 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
❀ You mean you don't know what multiplication is?! ❀
wilder: (hey look I found your fail)

dictated forever!

That's cause they all mean different things. Which ones are giving you trouble?
wilder: (on a wall all cool)

[personal profile] wilder 2012-04-26 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
The "x" is for multiplication! It's what you do when you need to add the same kinds of numbers together a few times!

Dividing is how it sounds. You take a number and...split it up equally!
wilder: (schemeing heh)

[personal profile] wilder 2012-04-26 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yep! It's shortcut adding! Like 12 x 3 actually means 12 + 12 + 12! It's just simplified to save time and space.

And exactly! Or into thirds or fourths, whatever you need to cut it down by.
petitfours: (just sippin my tea)

[personal profile] petitfours 2012-04-26 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
❀ Well, it's kinda like addition, except you have to add it a bunch of times, okay? Like two times nine means that you have nine sets of two! ❀

[Sudden idea!]

❀ If there are nine people in a room, and all of them have two strawberry cakes, how many cakes would be in the room? ❀

What don't you understand? I'm not the best at math but I don't mind trying to lend a hand.

12 x 3 = 36

14 x 6 = 84

2 x 9 = 18
petitfours: (mission gladly accepted!)

❀ Yeah! That's right! ❀
wilder: (I got it! All the girls wear battle biki)

You got it!

Uh...yeah when you divide up something into three or four pieces, you know?
