[hope you don't mind some math problems appearing in your journal. it seems someone is writing them down.]
4 - 9 = 5
12 x 3 =
5 + 5 = 10
14 x 6 =
2 x 9 =
[there's a pause when Dextera realizes that he is writing in the journal before he scribbles out a note.]
I don't understand some of these. Is it okay if someone helped me?

The x. I tried one but the book says it's wrong. [which is weird because 2 + 9 is 11 but apparently it's not.]

[Because not knowing the symbols is definitely the only problem here, Hunny]

Dividing is how it sounds. You take a number and...split it up equally!

9 x 2 = 9 + 9.
9 x 4 = 9 + 9 + 9 + 9.
Does that help at all?

Well, you seem to be fine with addition and subtraction. Think of multiplication as an easier form of addition. Let us try the first one, 12 x 3 -
What 12 x 3 is asking is what is the total of three pairs of 12 or 12 pairs of 3.
it's fine :>
Like having three things made of twelve parts? [he remembered the Bagged One mentioning something like that during one of her rambles. it stuck in his head because it sounded important.]
<3
So, think of it like that. If you have three things made up of twelves parts, how many parts total do you have?
So you can do it this way
12 + 12 + 12 = ?

38?

Do it this way -
what is 2 + 2 + 2 in one column and what is 1 + 1+ 1 in the other?
It should read this way
12 +
12 +
12 +
-----
