I'm afraid I'm still not entirely clear on why it was necessary, but I imagine it was for the best overall.
[That he hadn't found another occupation was clear enough. That Martel was here was also a pretty clear indication that Raine wouldn't try to press a closeness they'd had before. That would have to be entirely up to him--and if he wanted to keep his distance, well, that was his prerogative.]
Have you considered becoming involved in the rebuilding of the outposts?
Not to mention that the continual flux of members cannot have been a positive contribution. Even so, I'm sorry it had to end like that.
There have also been several expeditions in the planning stages I've heard of. If those of the First Generation truly have drawn back, this could be an ideal opportunity for more exploration. And every journey has it starting point, as I'm sure you remember they say. Having a strong outpost system will help with that.
...Exploration. It's been too long since I took part in that. [Wanderlust is taking hold all at once, fierce and unmistakable.] Anything I can do to get us closer to a point where we can wander beyond the barriers without facing hostility will be worthwhile.
[Whether or not he'd created that part of the religion, the sheer fact of the matter is that for four thousand years, their culture has been steeped in the philosophy of "go on a journey". Raine knows this is an artificial doctrine...but that doesn't make the cultural aspects, or the very valid parts of the philosophy, any less effective.]
I can't imagine you'd be anything less than completely welcomed.
Well, it's breaking into his room that's the hard part. But I've decided to give him a few days and talk to him a bit more before I try that again. [It's a very long story, Yuan.]
But why are you asking for things to do? Are you bored? [Yuan bored is never a good thing.]
He said he didn't think I could do it. I wished it back after, if you're worried about the door. And I think the traps are standard and I went and looked. They're mostly harmless. He's actually quite nice, just very lonely but he doesn't want to admit it. Reminds me of you, actually.
Because he's not going to help himself if he doesn't. He's done something terribly wrong, and he thinks the best way to atone for it is to hide himself away and not help fix it. Because he just thinks he'll mess it up more. I've been trying to tell him that it's not true. That if you try to fix what you helped create, then you will actually earn that forgiveness.
...Hmph. Well, forgiveness or not, hiding won't help repair the damage he's done. But don't you think he should come to that understanding on his own? I doubt you'll be able to force him to see it.
Perhaps, but that doesn't mean I'm going to leave him alone or not talk to him. Since he seems to have no problem creating little songs and singing them over the journals. [Martel thought they were cute.]
And anyway, if he stays in on place for a long time, his loss will get to him. [And everybody else who lives in the Impetus Tower.]
Well, that's precisely the sort of people I was hoping to attract, so I'm not surprised. Carolina is our only odd man, as it were. But since we'll be in the powered zone, I don't think we'd be completely at a loss.
Yuan
Just re-acquainting myself, as it were. I trust you've been well?
Raine
...Well enough.
[he wants to tell her everything, but...he can't afford to want to be as close to her as he did before.]
...The disbanding of the Patrol, necessary as it was, has taken a bit of a toll, I'll admit.
Yuan

Raine
...I should. It feels like going over the same ground as before, but obviously, I don't have any better ideas.
Yuan

And well... I'm not sure if you'd like to help, but I'm trying to help someone not be a hermit. [...Of course she is.]
Martel
Yuan
But why are you asking for things to do? Are you bored? [Yuan bored is never a good thing.]
Martel
[He sighs deeply.] ...It's more than boredom. I feel...useless. Helpless. Like I'm just...adrift. I don't know what to do with myself.
Yuan
So you need something long term to do. [Give her a minute, she's thinking.] Like a job, or something.
Martel
Yuan
...Well, the stubbornness does.

Sylvanas totally counts
yeeeee
[A pause, one that would be the equivalent of a human looking at their nails or staring off in a corner of their room in a bored manner.]
Surely there can be more than one excursion at a time, and truly, elves fare much better than mages.
[She is not even sorry.]
no subject
I should be insulted - I've always counted myself more in the latter category than the former.
Yuan; friends filter I presume? OwO
