[There is the sound of small clawed hands trying to flip pages and then it slaps to the page. This is not her ideal situation at all.]

Hi. Uh... I am going to guess that I've been missing. I just woke up -- [a pause] -- an animal and I'm in some girl's room.

[A skittering sound of sorts as she moves the book off the floor (look it took her almost an hour to get the thing to where she could use it) and into her hands, it's awkward and it drops. She'll just move down to the ground and talk at the book there.]

I just... I don't know what to do in this situation. I don't even know how long I've been like this, but I woke up and -- [she glances around again] -- just a little help? [she's grateful that at least her voice isn't different]

[ At the sound of a voice that isn't her mother's, Arya is awake and gripping Needle tightly. She remains still, feigning sleep as she tries to locate the source. There is no one she can see. Finally, she thinks to peer down. ]

...You can talk?!

[huntersdaughter]

[Jo... puts a paw on the girl's journal and waves with her free paw.]

Hi? I'm sure it's odd, but the castle does this to residents sometimes.

[persequor]

Does what exactly?

[ Needle remains hidden under her pillow, but she doesn't relax her grip around it yet. ]

[huntersdaughter]

[When she sighs, it is a squeak and she tries to make a face at the sound, but instead her tongue just sticks out. bleh.]

Turns us into animals.

[persequor]

You mean you're really a person? [ She was sleeping with someone? She refuses to sleep with her mother and now she's been sleeping with a stranger? ]

[huntersdaughter]

I'm Jo. Jo Harvelle. [She rises up, trying to be her full height, but dammit... still short.]

The castle puts us in strange rooms, too. It's probably how I ended up here. [Since she... does not know she's been an otter for days now.]

[persequor]

Actually I brought you here from the pond.

[ Finally letting of her sword, she sits up. Clad in a loose shift, she swings her bare feet to the cool floor. She kneels so she's closer to Jo's level. ]

That was a few days ago.

[huntersdaughter]

A few days ago? [if she had eyebrows they'd be up]

That's... [a beat] Do you know what day it is?

[persequor]

[ She thinks for a moment then shakes her head. ]

I haven't been paying attention to the days.

[Okay, so Spike has been sleeping for as long as he can get away with, but he does check the journal out of morbid curiosity when he sees this. Just don't expect him to say anything about his experience right now.

... And please don't tell him he has to come get her.]

[huntersdaughter]

Spike! Have I been missing? For more than just a day?

[gottaknockhard]

Ah- [He should know this. Give him a minute.] You don't remember anything?

[huntersdaughter]

I woke up with Arya this morning. I thought it was a new thing, but she says it's not so new.

Just the talking was new.

[gottaknockhard]

Arya? [Well, he doesn't exactly know everyone anyway. Kind of wants to ask what she is, but resists the urge.]

Are you alright?

[huntersdaughter]

Other than being an otter and having tiny hands? I guess it could be worse.

[gottaknockhard]

... Yeah. You've got hands. [This is a strange conversation to have, btw.]

[huntersdaughter]

They are more like claws... [She scritches at the journal.]

[There's a yawn before a very worried Steve speaks up. Being Sleeping Beauty is hard, okay? Just read his keywords.]

There you are! You really had us all worried. [Give him a second to rub his eyes before that part about her being an animal really sets in.]

[huntersdaughter]

Steve? How long have I been like this? [Seriously, this is concerning her.]

Four days at least. [Likely more since no one saw her the day before that.]

Dr. Chase was trying to find you on Saturday and got nothing.

[huntersdaughter]

I think I was with Arya. She's been nice to me, apparently, but I had no clue I was even missing.

[valuedstrength]

That's good to hear. [Can you hear the worried frown in his voice? Because it's only getting more worried.]

You should know Mark announced it to the castle so expect more worried messages.

[huntersdaughter]

[Grr. Mark. She really does not like that kid.]

He meant well. I just thought you ought to know.

I'm sure it'll blow over. Most things do.
