twenty-ninth phase [ dictated ]

Seems like the castle's been busy, given that I have two things now that I didn't have when I went to bed. I'm not the only one with a new book, right? A new book that seems to be just like the old one. I didn't know it was full, or could be since it had been filling up for years.

And then there's new thing number two. I'm trying to figure out if they're trying to torment us or if it's supposed to be nice.

[ Because something from home? Could go either way. And hers... was a reminder of something she didn't have? ]

One more thing we'll never know.

I'll search my room again, but I haven't seen anything yet.

Maybe not everyone got something?

Or it's just not in your room.

Both are definite possibilities. [Pause.] Was your gift something you could have wished up easily?

Maybe? I don't know, I've never tried wishing for one, although I'd probablt have to be specific.

Things I've asked for from home were in pieces and needed to be assembled.

Did they work afterwards?

If they were put together properly.

Kind of wondering now what the point was of the present then.

Two residents received animals from home; those can't be put back together and still work.

True. I guess animals would be an nice thing.

And just as complicated as electronic systems.

An electronic system is largely self-sustaining if it's in the right order. Living things need something else.

But you don't have to put them together, they'd come here in one piece.

I don't know if you can request animals most of the time. [She could always try and see what the result is. ]

It's probab;y better if you can't, it would be bad if you went home and they were stuck here.

The Castle sometimes is a little more foolproof than it should be.

Even with all of its mistakes, shockingly.

[Carolina laughs at that.] Sure makes a hell of a lot of those.

You'd think after a few years it might have gotten it right. Although we should probably be glad it messes up.

If it knew exactly what it was doing most of the time, we'd be pretty screwed.

That's pretty true. Glad it screws up, then.
