[drums his fingers his table, open journal in front of him. He's just noticed the date and well... there's a couple things on his mind. It feels a little awkward to ask though...]

Is the norm here to, y'know... still count birthdays?

Like I know that nobody ages and all. So should someone even bother? Is it common for people to count it anyway? I guess it don't matter much when you're an adult and you age so much slower anyway but still...

[pauses-- then adds]

N-Not that it's my birthday or anything. [it's not... for another week and a half] I'm just wondering if there's even a point in saying I'm a year older when it does come around, you know?

Not to mention... well, I'm sure the ladies understand this part, and maybe some of the fellas; none of you really want to get that much closer to the big three-oh, right? ...Or, uh, the big four-oh, I guess? In some cases?

Not that I'm going to be 30 or anything! [he's not... for another year] But it's just a thought!

Yeah! I was surprised too, when I found out! But it's true. A little girl I knew back home has been here for like 2 years by now, maybe? But she doesn't look a day older than 6, even though she should be 8 or 9 or something! Not a single centimeter taller!

Then, I suppose you don't have to. I never normally cared for celebrating even when I did age. It feels rather off to say that.
