17th Perscription ~ [Dictated]

[There's the sound of happy baby noises coming over the journal, as well a familiar beeping noise. To those who recognise it, it'll be the sound of Dr. Beckett's Ancient Life-Signs Detector. And a baby.]

No, no no, Rodney, those are daddy's-

[And the sound of Carson coming over to rescue his journal and scanner from his castle-given son.]

Wait... It's active... You've got the gene, too?

[It was to be expected, but it's still a surprise.]

Who's a little genius, aye? Who's a wee genius? [Baby talk. And it makes Rodney giggle.]

[He sounds so proud that River can't help responding]

I take it he shares a special gene with you?

So they share more then just our physical likeness. Huh, I'm curious as to how the castle manages to blend and mix our genes like that.

[Can't decide which voice is cuter. The baby, or Carson's.]

...You seem quite happy with your little 'bundle of joy.'

Sometimes I wonder if Amelia has the ability to regenerate, but then again that's something I never want her to have to experience. It requires having to die and have every single cell in your body rewritten to something entirely new.

Hello there, Rodney.

I've been adjusting to the idea of sudden parenthood, having had a little girl of my own.

Oh, yes. That's why we have two versions of him here. We used to have three, actually, but....the Tenth version left.

Yes. [He rolls his eyes, not that you can hear it over the journal, or anything.] His name is, 'Vanyel Ashkevron,' if you have any idea who I am referring to...

Thirteen was the number enforced on Gallifrey, at least that's what I've heard. I'm not...entirely sure. The Doctor might know, but I doubt he'd tell.

I can't regenerate any longer. I gave all my remaining ones up to save the Doctor's life.

Sort of. Think of me as a human version. One heart. Human biology. Just a slight twist of genetics that make me similar to Gallifreyan born time lords.

I'm an evolutionary abnormality.

[As long as he doesn't want a sample of her blood or something strange like that]

It's simple enough. I was conceived mid-flight through the time vortex. The time vortex leaks a special sort of radiation that can change people slightly through long-term exposure. You can imagine the effect it would have on a fetus. Any sort of radiation affects fetuses and infants much more than adults.

Any form of radiation is harmful, just in different degrees.

[She could have had a time head for all anyone knew or grew an extra limb, but instead she'd evolved along the path of the Time Lords]

Yes, technically. Still human, mind you. One heart instead of two.

I'm sure you'd be endlessly fascinated by my genetics, but there's really nothing to be gain by studying me. I could have easily just been a genetic mutation.
