[Dictated]

[There is a sound halfway between the creak of ancient wood and a sigh.]

Hrooom.

The trees are young, here.  They sing to me, but they do not know much of this world.  Hoom, they remind me of groves I knew long ago.  Ah, the willows of Tasarinan in the Spring.  They were lovely when I walked among them.

Hm, but this is no time for an old Ent's memories.  Come.  Tell me what news you have of this world.

Dairine's inner LOTR fan is pleased by this conversation. Very pleased.

Not where I'm from they don't. [Dairine answers defensively.] Wizards have worked with trees for ages!

[There are also trees who are wizards, but best not overwhelm the newcomer.]

More wizards for Dairine to play with!

Wizards listen to the trees' problems and try to find the best way to solve them. They prevent disasters, solve weather problems, settle territorial disputes, and other ways of helping them grow when they need it. And in return, trees give us materials for certain spells.

Of course.

[Wizards protect life, and trees are obviously included.]

Well, I have lots to say on the topic. After all, I am one.

I hear that a lot.

[Along with the "magic is not real" response.]
