Salutations, all new mothers and fathers!
I had no idea I'd set such a trend with my adoption! One day, you're the newest dad on the block, and the next, you're being chased through the courtyard by a toddler! What an adventure.
[Haha! Actually, Yuuya sounds nervous. Little humans can do a lot of damage!]
But of course I am a trendsetter here! Everybirdie is nesting now! A biological surprise if I've ever seen one! [Pssh!] This just goes to show you that even science is fallible in spooky magic kidnapper castles.
I'm sure you've all been wondering: "Oh, Mister Sakazaki, what can you tell us about this less than glamorous undertaking of parenthood?"
Unfortunately, if I'm honest - when am I not? - I know almost nothing about the care and keeping of small primates. It's hard luck - I'm afraid I haven't any advice to offer! I know you were all looking to me for the answers.
But perhaps - a playdate, maybe? Buddy needs exercise and I'd like it if she had more friends. Everyone needs friends.
We're in this together! Adieu, friends!

But where? Somewhere on the grounds? Sunshine does everyone some good.
Not the library, of course. That wouldn't end well.

Twice the responsibility, twice the feeding ... It requires twice the manhood!
Outside it is, then.
Will age be a problem? Are any of the children here very big? We grow up at different speed, I fear.

[Speaking over the journal, he's not quite put his finger on the fact that he's talking to a bird.]
Sage and Olive are pretty much normal size for three-year-olds...
no subject
I just wouldn't want the little ones to get bullied around, if that might even be a problem! You know kids; they grow up like weeds!
[Three year-old humans are still pretty small, for primates, right?]

[Why did he offer responsibility, again? Shit.]
You must tell your friends, then! See who else is interested.

Until then!
dictated - after their previous encounter?

I just feel that calling her my only daughter is a bit more personal, don't you?
no subject
A-Ah, I see! It is a bit more personal, and if it seems to make her happy...
I think a playdate is a good idea! I didn't receive a child, but I can help you supervise and organize if you like!
no subject
Your help would be much appreciated. It seems I am to continuously be in debt to you, Sister!
Do you have experience with children?
no subject
Mm! I can do my best to help.
Part of the duties of the church I grew up in was to care for children without any family remaining. [Those Esther was one of the rare few who had no family to speak of whatsoever.] So you can say that I've done my fair share of changing diapers and looking after little ones!
no subject
Then you're far more experienced than I am! [If he had eyebrows you could probably hear them wiggling.]
And I don't think they'll be able to chase you across the castle grounds, hm, mon amie?
no subject
[Since he doesn't have eyebrows, he only receives a blank look.]
O-Oh, poor Yuuya! If they like, they can chase me across the grounds. But I'll be able to overpower them if need be.
no subject
[Yuuya laughs.] Just because I'm ready for birds and humans to exist peacefully doesn't mean everyone is! Change will have to start with the nation's youth.

[blink. blink. blink.]

It is difficult to be a fledging intelligent species where previously there was only one.

[Well. That's odd. It almost reminds her of the conflict between Methuselah and Terrans, but both have been around for many years..]
I .. see. Perhaps the people here aren't aware of this happening in your world.
no subject
I have to remember that! Especially seeing as it's difficult to explain how ...
Well, perhaps it's better this way. I certainly like to avoid conflict, myself!

There are some things I'd certainly rather not know!

It's hard, though! Who can say who the best judge of that measure is?

...
I am not so sure she isn't still, but she seems happy to be called a girl.
She is a Pokemon. I would invite you to try and figure it out definitively!
[And this is coming from a bird. Imagine what troubles a human would have.]
dictated
or not, that only applies for mammal...ian? ish? species]
Sure, I guess. It's kind of sad if you can't even tell whether your own Pokémon is male or female. [plus, she reminds herself internally, she can
holler atfilter to Gold for help if she needs it][dictated]
[He's laughing, but how much does he believe that? Oh, boy.]
We have fun, though!

[dictated]
So, you may see where my confusion came from initially!
dictated
[dopey-looking]cute walking round plants, right? I remember seeing some.[snaaap, she was expecting something with a more obvious gender!] Did you...uh...ask her if she was a boy or girl when you met?
[dictated]
I'm a gentlebird! Why would I want to hurt her feelings?
dictated
It's only for a while at the most. Better than being confused for as long as you're going to be with her.
[dictated]
Certainly true!
I shall be more direct with her. I can only hope she'll have it in her heart to forgive me quickly ...
